Texas Motor Speedway - Running of the Xfires II - Sept. 26th
Re: Texas Motor Speedway - Running of the Xfires II - Sept. 26th
After 2am now and the poolside party is over at our motel.
Our thanks to Eric for the accommodations at the NEW Motel 6
What a fun day we all had down here in Texas.
I slept in and passed on the Cars and Coffee but heard it was amazing.
We had a really good TMS track tour today and then a most excellent lunch at Babes Chicken.
Tons of Chicken and Chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and corn and biscuits !!
Once we were all stuffed from lunch back to the motel for some final detailing of the Crossfires and then over to the TMS.
Lined em up and signed the waivers and onto the track.
The pace cars were keeping things slower than any of us would have liked due to a crash earlier in the afternoon before we arrived.
First I rode in with LantanaTX and shot video and then I drove FTroopChief's SRT6 and then took my nephews Porsche Carerra on the track for my final run.
Victor rode with danimal a couple times and had a blast.
Then after all the track time was done back to the motel where a great party began poolside with grilling and other foods and of course plenty of beer etc.
Thanks to all for such a warm welcome down here in Texas.
I met so many of you for the first time and you are all wonderful people.
Victor has really enjoyed himself and is really getting to experience USA fun while here from Sweden on his exchange student program.
My thanks to the efforts of all that made this whole weekend GTG possible.
It was certainly worth the flight down to be here with everyone and be part of all the fun !!
Also thanks to danimal, LantanaTX, and InfernoRedXfire for the rides to and from the airport......and also Jane Bridges and Franc Rauscher for the rides to the track and to lunch and back.
And Char...your a sweetheart with a great sense of humor.
Hope you continue to wash and dry your car with that technique you had described.
I don't believe I've heard that before....lol
Later today (Sunday) some of us are going to the new Cowboys Stadium for a tour of the new modern facility.
I will post up all my pics when I get home.

I did hit 100mph on one curve though.

Re: Texas Motor Speedway - Running of the Xfires II - Sept. 26th
The first run was dissappointing compared to the experience in May. I did have a lot more fun on the second run when I was running about mid pack with a '04 Vette. The Vette was in front of me and we would slow down to a crawl and let pack in front get way out there. Just when one of the rear pace cars would try to get up to us we would take off. I hit 110 and we did this twice on each lap. Each time we went down the fornt stretch we were full throtle form the turn four exit until we have to get hard on the brakes entering turn one to avoid slamming into the pack in fornt of us. I spoke to the vette owner after the run and thanked him for his strategy that made it fum for both of us. He was shocked that I was staying with him and was very impressed with how quick my car was. I told him I was just a n/a V6 but those SRT's are really fast!

I have posted the few photos I took at the event on my Flickr site.
I have a movie that I'll try to put up soon. I'll have to edit it at work. My machine at home doesn't have the umph.

Hey guys and gals, nice meeting the bunch of ya! For me having a Viper truck and totally the black sheep y'all were very welcoming and a great group of folks in general. Being the SRT godfather owning a 10 I've always been interested in the rest of the line. I was introduced with overwhelming varieties of Crossfires including the SRT6 and and a special thanks to Char for inviting me to the party afterwards and the 2am ride in her roadster. Again thank you all and your group represented nicely. Y'all are always welcome to our forum as well if you have anything to learn about the Viper Ram! VTCOA.com or Viper Truck Club of America. Talk to y'all soon

While they did cut the speed way down which was very dissappointing I still had a great time hangin with fellow oweners.
I am not sure I will do laps at TMS again but would like to suggest something much more fun. From time to time Texas World Speeday near College Station and Motor Sports Ranch near Fort Worth put on events for clubs which does not include any pace car.
Texas world Speedway is the most fun as it includes a road course that also uses the high banked turns and front straight away. Motor Sports Ranch is a fairly fast but tight road couse.

I just got home from dropping Gary and Victor off at the airport. Jon (OKC-XFR), Danimal, Gary, Victor and myself did the stadium tour. That stadium is over the top. Seams everything in the stadium is the world's biggest.
I would like to thank everyone for coming and making this such a fun event! Even though the speeds at the racetrack were a disappointment, it was still a lot of fun having such a large group of forum members together in one place.
I have lots of photos to edit and will post them up soon.

Thanks all for the event. Definitely had a good time despite the low speeds. I saw lots of good lookin' Crossfires out there and got tons of "new-to-me" info. Great to see lots of welcoming people just open to letting me take a look in their cars and allowing lots of dumb questions on my part. I would have stayed for the motel party but the mosquitos were in mass. I'm fragile and don't take to well to west nile.
On a second note, on my way home from the gun show in Dallas, I saw an SSB coupe from Florida on 114 w/ those black Crossfire coupe badges (like mine). Who ever that was, good seeing ya on the road! ^_^

Our flight departed at 4:30 and 3 hours later were home.
Gotta go through all my pics and get them posted.
The Stadium tour was really good.
It's was a nice added attraction for me and Victor for our weekend in Texas.
