Talked with Heartland Park Topeka (HPT) today. They're extremely excited about the possibility of hosting our XFire event. And for those that follow the NHRA, this facility just hosted the NHRA Summer Nationals, which is an annual event at this site. So their drag strip is one of the best in USA! And I'm told it could be made available to us as an evening event, since they have lights! How 'bout that!

Of course this all has a cost associated to it and I'm hoping to get these figures by end of June.

HPT also gave me the name of a contact in the Porsche Car Club that holds an event usually in June every year. Strong possibility that we would be allowed to "piggy-back" with them and that would drop our costs considerably. And the PCCA group, I'm told by HPT, brings along outstanding instructors that would be available to us to show how to get our XFires around the road course both quickly & safely.
(Note: If you check HTP website, you'll see where the PCCA group has their event this weekend. We just need to convince them to hold next year's event in the last half of June.)

Been looking to get out to St. Louis

 

There have been a number of great ideas on where to have our destination.
Thought I had it closed with Omaha, but it appears that the decision should be made by the majority of people who intend to participate.

As a result I have started a new poll in a new thread
This thread will close after the poll closes and the host city is decided by the voting poll.

Hey Gary, have we narrowed down or actually voted on a "specific" time frame in June 2010? Just wondering because some of us have to put are vacation time in by July 23rd for the upcoming year. maybe a quick, one week poll will suffice. LMK

 

Also, if we're planning a track experience we may need to contact Gateway post haste due to several professional circuit obligations. Also, St. Louis' commerce center is offering major allowances and discounts to "groups" that visit St. Louis including hotel, dining and attractions' (boo the Cardinals) tickets. Get this, if we buy forty plus tickets for a game we can get our club's name lit up on the scoreboard. I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes just sharing some info I obtained.

 

We were looking at the week of the 20th. Kids should have been out of school for a couple weeks by then.

 

June 20th thru June 30th including travel time to and from St.Louis
Actual dates in St.Louis would probably be June 22, 23, 24 next year.

 

The Gateway group will start contacting St louis tourism, commerce and the speedways to see what is available for that week end.
I have already been talking to some restauranteers and city leaders out here in St Charles county..

This will be great fun.

Actually Gary, I probably suck at organizing these kind of events. We are counting on a bunch of others to jump in so as to make this the best Crossfire event imaginable.
