Erzer - Can you get me the address of the hotel? So I can add it to the map, and everyone can see the place that we'll be going to. Is this also going to be where we'll be meeting up in the first place, and then taking off for places from there?

Volunteers - Whenever you come up with a route you'd like, PM me and I'll add it to the map. That way, other people can start to see the main routes that'll be taken, and find out where to meet up at along the way.

This is definitely going to be an amazing week!

For those a bit antsy or anybody for that matter, I have to apologize about hoping to have the link up this weekend, the Manager will have it up next weekend. Seems we didn't discuss the contract she needs to send me and we won't finalize that till next week...mea culpa as I should have thought of that last night.

 

Put me on the list, sounds like quite an event. We really have been wanting to do at least part of old Rt 66 and this is the perfect opportunity

I'm in! I should still be in Indiana at that time, but if I finish (the project) early, I'll just drive in from Munds Park AZ. Either way, I'll look to link up with a convoy at some point in the route. Valk, I imagine you'll be coordinating the route from IL down????

I suspect there will be many of them and it is about 5 hours from Chicago to St.Louis

to ask which routes they might like to take, and update the map accordingly. After we get some decent routes laid out, I'd like to figure out meeting points and hotel stops along the routes, and get those added as well.

Also, if anyone notices along the routes something that they'd like to detour to see, let me know, and I'll look into adding POI's (points of interest). Just a thought.

 

Great work on the map iut should help things come together nicely. I am going to change my profile from NE Ohio to Andover Ohio to provide a more accurate location for me.

 

Just posted some JPEG's in My Members Gallery that show a tentative route from SC to Harrah's. I've included some rest stops for meet-ups, eats, and a suggested overnight near Nashville, if others are interested in convoying.

If we get enough XFires to follow this route & stay overnight at the Hampton Inn in Lebanon, TN, I'll see if a publicity event can be arranged that evening at the original Cracker Barrel restaurant, which is only about 15 minutes from hotel property (1 exit east). Or if folks would rather travel to downtown Nashville for an event, we can see what we can come up with. Just let me know your suggestions.

And the route can always be adjusted to meet the needs of the many. Roberta & I thought we'd just take our time, enjoy the trip & here's what we came up with. We travel this route many times each year as we're both originally from KCMO. We just altered our normal route since we'd finish in St. Louis.

This ought to be a great event!

 

Hey Borhmian, great job on the map. I see where OKC is a potential rally spot for the folks coming in from the west on I-40 or coming north on I-35.
Mayby we could make up a whole caravan going up I-44 thru Missouri to St.Louis?

Looks like Maryland to St. Louis offers five great locations to meet up with other participants. Columbus and Dayton, OH, Indianapolis, IN, Charleston, WV or Lexington, KY.

Borhmain excellent job. Are we going to have rally/meet up points along the way. I was going to do the trip in one day but breaking it into a two day trip is ok too. Is there a Northeast or MidAtlantic coordinator?

 

That's the idea! Should look pretty amazing as each 'side' of St. Louis gets more and more XFire's getting together. An idea I just had is what if each 'side' waited until a pre-determined time and then on cue, we all drove in together and met at Harrah's?

We have enough St. Louis volunteers that each one could drive the route from the outside-St.-Louis-meeting spot and Harrah's, to get a good feel for the route and how much time it takes, and then each 'side' gets a colunteer to follow. Mmm.. Interesting concept. Let me know what you all think.

Whichever people believe would be best for them. I put your initial (I-70 W) route on the map, and it looks like it's pretty decent. And yes, I'd like to include rally points, hotels, and food stops for people along the way as well.

As for a NE volunteer, we do not have one. Want to take up that position?
