I would like to extend an invitation to you to come join us at Fontana Lodge on Saturday night for our BBQ night.
It appears you are local to the area and won't be staying in a room at the lodge but we welcome you to hang with us and do some crusin with a group.

Sorry we missed ya a few weeks back when we were there but look forward to seeing ya in the Fall.

Ray, sounds great...we will get in touch as time gets closer....prolly will stay in Knoxville Thurs...if I can get Wed as well...may be down then...too soon to tell...but definitely staying longer this trip...

 

I am with you, Doc. Last Friday thru Sunday was just kind of a tease, need at least one more day to tame the dragon....

 

I intend to be there all day Friday, spending 3 night instead of 2 at the Dam. If my wife doesn't go. I may just pitch a tent - LOL

Don't worry, Jay, hugs and drinks all around., Iif you feel put out, and don't want to cavort with that sort, Valk has asked me to organize a loop around Asheville for those that would rather drive than tour the Biltmore. My prototype route heads us out of Biltmore Villlage through Biltmore Forest, then proceding SW on the Blue Ridge Pkwy. Following that, we will circle clockwise around Cold Mountain, and then recross our path at 276 & BR Pkwy where we can visit the Cradle of Forestry at a 65 mi halfway point. Then 276 to Chimney Rock/Bat Cave, and the 74-alt back to Asheville. Lots of great twisties and mountain scenery on this route. I am also looking into some shorter routes forthose that want to get back to the Dragon before dark. A simple solution is to have some run this figure eight while others take a louie at Balsam and head back to Fontana.

Hey Gary - could you start a sign up for the driving group?

 

NotEnough: It was your idea and a great one at that. Hope you'll get on board and come with us. Looks like there will be a lot of options for a great day and a lot of new adventures and memory makers.

I want to do it all, but am not sure how to get it all in in one day.

yeah i know there is some manythings that are going to be going on this time its going to be so hard to pick which one i wanna do.... wait yes it will cause my better half is coming and she got sick last time she said that i was driving to fast lol.....

 

Rob, the only way you could have been going too fast is if you ended up at the bottom LOL

 

Just want to clarify that on Saturday the run will remain the same this Fall as the past meets.
A photo session at the Fontana Dam and a trip to Robbinsville for lunch etc.
Same drive loop and a BBQ back at the lodge Saturday evening.

We just wanted to create new ideas and more options for the Sunday half of the upcoming Fall meet.
I will attempt to begin a list of who will do what on Sunday.
Who will be touring Biltmore and who will head that direction but opt to take the driving afternoon instead.

Give this some thought.

Gary, I'd suggest you take time one of the days to visit the waterfalls we went to this spring it was really amazing and made for a great backdrop for a picture of your crossfire.

 

yeah well had to get some motion sickness pills for her and she didnt even wanna go on sunday... BUT she said that she loves me and knows i love to have fun so she said shes going to go with again in the fall...

Frank, this is great idea. I missed the falls this last trip because I was unaware of them all together, but have seen some pics and would love a photo op out there....

 

Just show me the way buddy.
As I recall you said it was only 6 miles off the route we all took on Saturday.
I'm sure we all could go stop there in our individual groups.

 

I love waterfalls, much of a hike from the road?

 

Parking is right next to the Falls.
