Typically, the fall colors will be peaking near the end of OCT here in Upstate SC. The higher elevations normally have passed the peak color period by end of OCT. But there should still be some beautiful scenery during this meet.

 

Sorry to say, Tina and I will not be in attendance this fall. Reservations have been cancelled but we hope to be there in the spring.

To get you in the mood for the upcoming Dragon run (not that you weren't already), check out this week's (Oct 5th) AutoWeek article about a Fall color tour through the Blue Ridge Pkwy. into Asheville.

Theme of the 2 pg article is testing a Benz SL65 AMG and a Land Rover, but the Biltmore Estate and numerous local eateries are also mentioned.

I know I missed the group discount for the room but that is ok. One question before I commit to comming to this event... How is the parking lot party... And my showing depends on the weather. There is no way I want to drive home in the snow. I want a tune if that option is still available. Sorry I have not been following this thread too closely but I am going to now

Weather is never predictable but the party's at night at the Lodge are and they are great.
Also a big BBQ our way on Saturday evening on the lodge property!!

 

Until the 15th or 16th I will not be able to get accurite weather data, but here is some historical data for the area, I cannot get to any historical data for the national park, I am still working on that


This is about the latest in the year that I will be able to drive on these tires in that area!

Weather, as many have stated, can be a little unpredictable that time of year, but well worth the risk, you will have a great time for sure. Due to the temperatures the normal 'parking lot party' becomes a 'hang out in the lodge around the giant fireplace party' which is just as much fun, but without all the eyecandy of the parkng lot. I would contact the lodge and see if you can 'take over' Max's reservation. I would also recommend staying through Monday. Molly and I went earlier this year and our only complaint was that we had to leave Sunday when everyone else was still playing on the hill

The Last two Fall Dragons meets the weather has been great, cool in the early am and warm up as the day went on

 

I'm taking that as a promise.

 

One thing i can promise !!! That Rain or shine your going to have great time !!

 

I just ordered a cover for the car - so if it rains, I can just cover it and go sip hot chocolate in the lodge.

 

I drove over to the Dragon this Saturday morning the weather was perfect the trees are starting to change a little in the higher elevations and traffic was crapy but the drive was exellent .
and the Indians will still take your money @ Harrah's

 

Well add me to the ATTENDING list. I thought long and hard (2 min or so) about this and decided to attend the fall dragon. How can I miss a weekend with BoilerUpXFire, Tom2112, Mister Taz, oledoc2u, Rokypoky, Romio, Deborah Walker,rcompart, And everyone else. Good times await.

 

I really wanted to meet you too! Just make it a habit and come in the spring. We have a couple of reasons for not being able to make it, but not for discussion.
