If a Moderator would like to move this to the proper forum, that is fine.

Today I placed an order for 25 of each of the following decals. They are approx 4" wide, 2" tall, black print on white vinyl. If you haven't noticed, one is a coupe, one is roadster. I plan to place mine in the lower left front windshield. Or one on each side rear window in the corner on my coupe.

Actually the print shop was able to convert these images and the samples he printed looked sharper and smoother than what you see here.

Price is $3 each and I will have them with me at the event. No need to send any money now. If you would like to purchase any, please PM or email the type, quantity, username, and real name and I will have them for you. If quantity runs over for either, I can have additional printed before I leave for the event.

Well you know I will have to have one....

 

Fall is a busy time for us at work and I will have to decide at the last minute. Same story last spring, but we came up on Saturday and had a great time. My ideal would be to talk my dad into coming along in his xfire, so that would make two more srt coupes for the day. Hope to see y'all there!

 

 

 

I still have about 10 left to fill my order of 50. Please don't wait until the last minute so I can get the appropriate amount printed for the event.

Leslie & I are newbies - purchased our 2006 Limited Coupe less than three weeks ago. Current plans call for us to bei n the Asheville/Hendersonville area in late October and if that works out, we will attend for sure. Should know soon. Otherwise, it is a 4000 mile round trip for us - -but we did it in June in our DeLorean (DeLorean gathering in Gettsyburg), so I'm sure we can make it in our Crossfire.

Would love to put somefaces with the names!

I want to know how many members we will have for a Sunday drive.
I know several leave Sunday morning but also some stay and make it a full weekend.
We have had a Sunday drive even for those who are heading out but for those who are staying the whole day we may want to look at some other options to add to the day.
I will be arriving Friday afternoon but I will be staying both Saturday and Sunday and leaving Monday morning.

Currently the lodge has 5 more rooms booked than I have listed here

 

Gary, I am going to try my best to get in on Thursday (if not, it will be early Friday) and will definitely be leaving on Sunday to get back. See you there.

Well I don't think Bill will be making the final plans for this meet and it appears he won't even be coming to the meet.
I certainly didn't plan to be coordinating a meet of this size from my home in Illinois.
The original responsibility I assumed was to maintain the list of members attending and track the rooms reserved at the lodge and that was the extent of my role here while Bill tended to personal matters outside the forum.
He said he would return to make the final plans but it appears he will not be assuming the roll of doing this now.
I am attempting to be Bill here but I am no expert when organizing a meet of this size and being 10 hours away makes it even more difficult.

If Bill were working out this plan he was going to use last April's meet as a guide and make some changes in order for it to work this fall.
Well That's what I just did today.
I also have no reservations made for any of the places named to eat other than the lodge itself.
The lodge will accommodate our group for dinners and breakfasts.

In the next post I have provided the outline for this meet....

 

The Schedule of Events for the 3 Day Fall 2008 'Tail of the Dragon' Crossfire Meet:

(the Most Important Events are on Saturday & noted in Blue).

Friday October 31

Members will be arriving throughout the afternoon.
Some may hang out and greet others coming in or some may want to do a quick run on the Dragon before dinner.
The section of road known as the Tail of the Dragon (US129) is only 9 miles from the Fontana lodge.
Just take Hwy 28 (left) from the lodge to US129.
Turn right on US129 and you are on the Dragon.
Sunset is at 6:40 pm

Gather in the Large Comfortable Lodge Lobby in front of the Fireplace for more conversation etc.
The lobby is furnished with a lot of comfort for sitting and visiting and alcohol is allowed.

Saturday November 1
(The Big Day)

Sat 8:30 AM Breakfast at the Fontana Village Mountain View Bistro in the lodge.
(10 min from the Dam Meet).

Sat 10:00 AM (leave)

If we are all ready....
Line up and leave the lodge in a group and head for the Fontana Dam Visitors Center. (10 minutes away)

Turn right out of the lodge onto Hwy 28
Go 3 miles from the Lodge to Fontana Dam parking lot.
Entrance to the parking lot is on your left.
Parking lot is in front of the Overlook Gift Shop.

(We will probably be there until 11:30 AM so take your time at breakfast if you wish to leave slightly later than the group)

Sat 11:30 AM (leave)
Lunch Run to Robbinsville - Hwy 28 to Hwy 143 (18 mi, approx 30 min)
Lunch in Robbinsville at Sweetwater BBQ or McDonald's or Wendy's or Subway. (You pick, all within a block of each other)
An hour and a half is planned for this lunch stop.

Big Loop Run Robbinsville back to Fontana Village....

Cherohala Skyway (NC hwy 143 & TN. hwy 165) (5,200 ft @ 45 Mph)
At Tellico Plains take Hwy 360 north

Pit-Stop at Hardy's in Venore Hwy 411/360 at about 74 mi into the Big Loop (restrooms & gas available)

After leaving Venore take hwy 72 back to US129 -The Dragon
(318 Curves in 11 mi @ 30 Mph)

Then left on Hwy 28 and go 9 miles back to the Fontana Lodge on right.


Sat 4:30-5:00 PM (arrive)
Most will have arrived back at the lodge by now and will have a couple of hours to stop back in their rooms or simply hang out or gather in the lobby before dinner.

(or one way for those going West, North or Northeast home from the Dragon).

Sun 12:00 PM "Goodbye Loop" - w/ Lunch at the River's End Restaurant - Nantahala Outdoor Center, On the Nantahala "Whitewater" River on our way (approx 45 minutes from FV) almost all along Whitewater Rivers or Lakes & Mountains, for those who want to Drive & See more of this Beautiful Area on or before their way Home!
