2006 Crossfire?
2006 Crossfire?
I was at my Chrysler dealer today having a two wrench service and talked with the new car manager. He said that Chrysler currently has no plans to build any 2006 Crossfires and may cancel the vehicle. I told him that was sad since it is such a great vehicle, Chrysler needs to find a way to get people in the drivers seat and they could sell a lot more. Chrysler did not market the vehicle very well. Most people ask me what the car is and are amazed it is a Chrysler since they have never heard of it.
I hope the manager was misinformed. Chrysler needs to keep building and improving the Crossfire and terminate the marketing team and find a new team that can respectfully generate public interest.

Re: 2006 Crossfire?
Maybe they were taking the "If you build it, they will come" approach to marketing this car. If that is the case then the strategy isn't working and they need to advertise it more aggressively. The problem is, IMHO, that a lot of people still equate "Chrysler product" with "gutless piece of crap". No don't get me wrong, ever since the merger they have been working very hard to change that image but that change comes slowly. They're facing the same challenge as GM did. If you'll notice, GM has been changing the image of Cadillac from "Land Yacht" to "Luxury/Performance" so they can better compete with the likes of Acura, Lexus, and Infiniti. D/C is doing the same thing with the Chrysler brand.
I'm living proof that their image makeover is working. I would never have considered buying a Chrysler product until I drove the Crossfire. Now, I can definitely see a 300C sitting in my driveway as well.

Re: 2006 Crossfire?
It's not true, they've already been produced. I know of a 2006 in the showroom of a local dealer. It's the new Oyster Gold Crystal Metallic color they added for 2006.

Re: 2006 Crossfire?
And yet, still nothing on the Crossfire Website relating to a 2006.
Looks to me like they're going to let it languish until they can come up with something better. The so-called 2006 embellishments seem purely cosmetic; no indication of any mechanical improvements.
If I decide to buy one any time soon, it will be a 2005; same car, thousands less.

Re: 2006 Crossfire?
Has anyone on this forum purchased a 2006 Crossfire? I saw a srt6 down at the dealership, and was told it was a 2006, but I recall seeing the same srt6 at the same dealership back in september of 2005. I guess the dealerships are just updating the paperwork to reflect 2006, that would be one way to save Chrysler an awful lot of money in production cost.
Re: 2006 Crossfire?
OK I just finished "do a search" , also did a "build and purchase," on the Chrysler Crossfire web site... guess what no 2006 Crossfire offered... there you go folks... looks like sterling013 may have good information. I repeat there are no 2006 Crossfires being offered on the Chrysler web site.

Try this...

and note in the article the reference to "7" colors. Also see pics at the bottom of the post.
Unless DC buys out the contract, they have a five year contract with Karmman to build the Crossfire. The original production goal was 20,000 units a year, of which 15,000 were to be imported to the US of A.

Re: 2006 Crossfire?
I got all that brother, but I did a search of all the dealerships USA wide and could not find a 2006 Crossfire, only 2005's. Then I tried to build one on the Chrysler web site and the 2006 Crossfire was not offered, Chrysler is only listing the 2005. Understand I am talking about THE Chrysler web site, not a knock off site. Did the search from their web site of all their dealerships also. there is no 2006 Crossfire to be had. maybe tomorrow morning one may turn up, but right now as i type there is not a 2006 crossfire on a dealership lot, or on the Chrysler site. Check it out yourself brother. hooah

Re: 2006 Crossfire?
...maybe they are doing the smart thing, and trimming 2006 production back until the oversupply of 2005 cars is used up. I assume there are some 2006 cars out there, but not very many. For one thing, dealers aren't likely to order any until the cars that have been sitting on their lots for 300 days are snapped up. For Chrysler, more cars = more incentives, possibly deeper ones on the '05 cars if the '06 cars are out there, as they would compete against each other.
Unless you are nuts about some minor color and trim variations, there is no compelling reason to buy a 2006 car over a 2005. I don't know how Chrysler expects to rebuild their marketing strategy, and turn the sluggish sales around (unless the strategy from this point on is to move the metal with incentives).

Re: 2006 Crossfire?
Was up in the Toledo area this past weekend and decided to stop at a local Chrysler dealer. He had believe it or not...16 Crossfires on his lot...convertibles and hardtops..never saw so many at one place before. Now if that isn't overkill I don't know what is. To be honest I didn't get out and look at each car but they all seemed to be 2005's.
Re: 2006 Crossfire?
If I remember correctly, the 2005 Crossfire information didn't show up on the Chrysler website until after they were already on the lots. Apparently Chrysler isn't that concerned about keeping the website up to date. When I was back in OK over the holidays, I saw a red 06 SRT6 on a lot, so I know there are a few 06's out there.

Mine sat there for 300 lonely days, before I brought it home.
