Wink Re: 2006 Crossfire?

I just went to the Karmann home page in Germany. There is no news about canceling the XFire. All of the wallpaper downloads are there, and they had photos of a new model Roadster with a custom leather top, in lieu of the canvas. If they were no longer building the car, I am sure their news page would have mentioned it.

IMO DC may have a problem with dealer interest. And, that is why we are not seeing 06's or just seeing 1 or 2 here and there.

Chrysler cannot force the dealers to take the cars. And, if you have 04' and 05' cars, which are costing you money, sitting on the lot, why would you order 06's? This is the ultimate Catch 22 for a dealer. This car is too expensive to continue to be the DC loss leader. Even with incentives, the dealers were taking a beating with cars on the lot for 300 days +. I am sure not many of them are interested in reliving that nightmare.

There seem to be quite a few Crossfires available in the Cleveland, OH area at the five star dealerships. I asked my dealer and he told me he has received no information on when or if the 2006 Crossfire will be available. They don't expect to know anything until "late spring". There is no sales literature or order info for the 2006 models either. Seems strange to me too, but with so many 2005 models available it would be reasonable to want to reduce the existing inventory before offering the 2006.

Or maybe they're still working on that SPARE TIRE and CUP HOLDER problem. Hahaha!

You got it!

Nice find and it answers the question of the '06. I knew I saw that pic somewhere before, I just couldn't find it.

...I like that Oyster Gold color. I also really like "classic yellow", which (sadly) is not available on the coupe.

Maybe they just added the fixed spoiler and SRT6 wheels to a red limited. I was in the service department and didn't actually go into the showroom to look at it closely. The service guy said it was an '06. Maybe you can't believe them any more than you can the salesmen.

I hate to spoil the fun, but that photo is NOT an Oyster Gold car. That is the '05 Limited Roadster in Classic Yellow form the 2005 Crossfire brochure, look at the brochure if you have it.

Have you ever heard of a leather top on any convertible, any where? I really like the looks of that black roadster with the dark tan leather top.

I just did an email to "Karmann", I figure they'll know if a 2006 Crossfire is coming out anytime soon.

Here is the email from Karmann concerning the production of the Crossfire...looks like there will be a model change in 2007... I wonder what that means? Maybe a new V8 engine?

Dear Customer,

If I understood you right, you want to know if the "Chrysler Crossfire 06 model" exist?

Until now Karmann produces the "06 model" up to july this year,
then comes the model change to "07"!

Questions or comments please let me know.

Mit freundlichen Grüßen / With Best Regards

It probably means that they will start getting ready to produce the 2007 models in July of this year. I really doubt that they would be putting a V-8 in though. Now a new camshaft and some revised PCM software would be nice.

Model year change-overs do not necessarily mean a new model... it happens every year around July in the auto biz.

If the past is any indication of the future, then "Model change" (at least for our cars) means a new serial number sequence.

No doubt. And maybe a new paint color next year. So, hurry up and get on the '07 waiting list RIGHT NOW. J/K.

I figure you can push the HP on the Crossfire you got now up to over 250 HP for a little over $1,500.00. Trick out the ECU - Exhaust - some type of cool air intake - hotter plugs - less weight (no HP but faster) - Octane (no HP but keeps the engine firing at optimum timing) - Higher volume electric fuel pump so you're never starving for fuel.

well apparently you can get 12 hp outta a chip, change the cam, better exhaust. i dunno, use the new 3.5 head. it would probably cost less than the 10k they are losing of almost every crossfire they are selling.
