First Post - general Crossfire question
From the first time I saw the Crossfire as the pace car at Laguna Seca Raceway, I've loved the look of the car. I'm investigating the purchase of a used Crossfire coupe model and wanted some general information, if the forum members were willing.
Are there any options, of sport packages that would make this car more on the sporty side? Any significant changes year to year? Any known issues to check out before deciding on specific car?
As my name indicates, I own a cobra replica and it is raw and nasty and looking to add a suitable partner in the garage as a daily driver. Thank you in advance.

Re: First Post - general Crossfire question
What you see is just about what you get. Selections are the Limited or Base model in a coupe or roadster configuration. The 2004 and 2005 Limited editions coupes are identical. The roadsters were built only in 2005. There are various interior colors available on the Limited model.
Only available options include - 1. a nav system w/ radio 2. 5-speed auto trans, and 3. two brands of tires.
The SRT6 is the performance version of the car rated at 330 supercharged HP. It has different seats, different spoiler and different front fascia below the grill.

Re: First Post - general Crossfire question
- 6-speed manual transmission on the base model pops out of gear some times
- some think the Crossfire's 6-speed manual transmission is "clunky"
- not a good car to modify as parts are hard to find and very expensive
- for some the base engine is just not enough power
- the suspension is set on the soft side, meaning an excellent, controlled ride, but slightly sluggish handling when pushed OVER 8/10ths.
- for some, the interior light malfunctions
- hard to find snow tires with the factory 19 inch rear wheels
- tire pressure monitoring system can have a mind of its own
- manual transmission pedals are not the best for heal-toe downshifting
- some have experienced poor Dealership skills in tending to the Crossfire (in other words, some Chrysler dealership's just stink at repairing these vehicles when things go wrong)
- the car should come with xenon headlights, but its not offered on the car (isn't it funny how the 300C and the Pacifica offer them as an option, but not on their flagship model???
- oil change can get pricey (mine usually costs around $90)
- poor luggage space in the convertible model
- many tire centers wouldn't go NEAR my Crossfire when it has a punctured tire b/c they think that the Tire Pressure Monitoring System will be screwed up (when I finally got my tire fixed, the TPMS reset itself)
On a side note, all of the above are just rare occurrences, so don't be alarmed by all of these problems. I am not trying to turn you away from the car, just trying to list all of the RARE problems of the Crossfire that people have reported on this forum. The car has great looks and to me, is a true GT. Some may argue that the price of the SRT-6 is not justifiable, but, nowadays, I have seen multiple brand NEW SRT-6 models for $10,000 under sticker, which, to me, makes the car a decent deal. I think you share my opinion that the SRT-6 should come in stick, when, in fact, I am trying to make that a reality by talking to some shops to see if they can swap the automatic for a manual tranny. Welcome to the forum and good luck finding a new car!

Re: First Post - general Crossfire question
Raw in that it doesn't have a top, windows, heater, ac, defroster, windshield wipers, air bags or anything that is power assisted.
Nasty in that it has sidepipes that spews thunder when it accelerates, sets car alarms off as it drives down the street and is generally offensive to anyone but a car lover.
To me, that is good. However, it is not for every day driving.

The cobra is a Factory Five Racing kit. It has a warmed over late model 5.0, 4 wheel disc, 5 speed and carbon fiber body (car weight is 2,040 pounds wet). All the decals you see are static cling; they go on and off easily depending on what look I want on the car.

Re: First Post - general Crossfire question
i actually looked at the factory 5 cobra kit car and decided it was a little more than i could handle as far as time & money - also i have heard the replicas are hard to get on the road.
if you put yours together, than you should have no problem swapping out the tranny on an srt.
good luck
