Re: Gold Crossfire sold on BaT
I was watching this auction. I thought it would go for closer to seven. I think the low miles and manual helped it. Nice car overall. The spoiler needed repainting. A few chips that looked like they were starting to rust. Rims had road rash, and 2 center caps were stripped bare. It also had a couple places where it looked like the clear coat was missing.
Re: Gold Crossfire sold on BaT
The ultimately crazy part is the prices these cars sell for in general. Maybe I am biased and I know the styling seems to be controversial - either you think it's the most unique, beautiful vehicle with curves unmatched to this day together with those beautiful rakes extending over the hood, the interior, the roof line and down the trunk, or you are of the opinion this is the most ugly auto body to date. I happen to belong to the first group.
Now, at the time Chrysler during the 90s, early 2000s was not really known for quality and I remember the Sebring, Neon, various Plymouth that I'd imagine have a difficult time reaching 100,000 miles. Maybe that has something to do with it and people are reluctant as they do not really know this is a Mercedes through and through. But I'm just imaging an 18 year old looking for his first car and walking onto a lot....there is a Chrysler Crossfire with 30-60K miles for $5-7K and there are Nissan Altimas, Toyota Camrys, Kias from the same era that either cost the same or more....you would be a rockstar with a Crossfire at that age over anything else that is available. Wild!

Yep, that was me with the winning bid on the 06 Crossfire Limited Coupe 6-spd for $7953! This car presented even better in person despite the effort of the seller with an abundance of clear pictures and videos. Always admired the body style of these coupes, and it drives wonderfully. The few minor flaws are so minute, they are nearly un-noticable and the center caps have already been replaced. Do people know about these things???
