Default My bad luck

I have had some rotten luck and need to vent (long post).

About 7 weeks ago I was run off the road in my Crossfire. Some idiot stick decided they didn't want to be in the turn lane and tried to sideswipe me. I moved into the center lane, to avoid a collision, and then tried to get behind them before I hit the fast approaching median. Well I failed. I clipped the curb with the driver's side rear wheel. This then pulled the front wheel into the curb also. The other driver just kept going down the road like nothing happened (Of course).

The wheels are screwed, the suspension is damages, and rocker panel is scratched. I called my insurance and claimed it (Heck I am changing insurance companies soon so why not get them to pay for it).

This happened back around August 26th. I just got the car back today! It took forever to get parts, fix the suspension, and get it all aligned (Only one shop in the Seattle area will align the car). When I drive away in the car everytime I hit a bump the rear suspension makes a "Clunk". I took it right back and told them this was unacceptable. The only reason I am using this shop is because Progressive said they are the best shop for an "exotic" car like the Crossfire.

So here I sit angry and upset because who knows how long I will have to wait to drive my Crossfire again.

I just had to vent somewhere. Thanks for listening to me whine.

That is a shame... It is hard to believe in this day it takes that long to get parts. Be persistent as you will only get what you accept. I hope the clunk gets fixed for you. The idea behind repairs is that you should not be able to tell it was done. If something makes you say "well it’s not too bad" or something similar it is not repaired correctly.

Good luck

I think it is time for you to trade for another Xfire.

Sad story. Let's hope they find the 'clunk'. Once I had a similar 'clunk' in the front in my former PT Cruiser after I did some little work on the headlights. I almost got crazy searching for the source. Finally it was a wrench I left behind...

So I hope it's something trifle too with your 'clunk' and you can enjoy your car pretty soon again!

Good luck

...at least you won't have to put your Crossfire away for too long in the winter in Seattle. I should know, I grew up in Kirkland, WA. You guys don't have to deal with the kind of snow and road salt that we get out here.

I'm surprised that you could only find one shop in the Seattle area to get your Crossfire aligned. Where do you suppose all of those folks that own SLK roadsters go? Probably, it's not the "best" shop for an "exotic", but perhaps the only one Progressive is willing to pay for. The wheels alone for the Crossfire aren't cheap, and I assume nothing else that needed to be fixed is, either. Progressive is probably paying a lot to get it repaired. How did the claim affect your rates? A lot of the worst insurance companies (i.e. Gieco) simply drop people for claims like this.

Dude,
If you have used the recommended body shop by progressive. They have to repair to your satisfaction. You can tell them you rejected the repairs, make them repair over and over again until the insurance company cannot take it, they will write the car off and pay you for what it is worth.

Also, try not to use progressive for insurance. They suck... And believe it or not, they will put this repair bill on your insurance record. They will claim it is your fault. They are simply bad people... They did to me once, I hate to see other people got it too.

So, who did you change to, and what did it cost? Michigan is a no-fault state, so that could explain any price difference between your state and mine, but I pay $100 a month for full coverage on my Crossfire.

I changed to American Express Insurance. Bloody excellent services and reasonable rate. I was quoted $60 per month on $500 deductible.

Bear alignment was the only ones who would do it. They are a big chain (I remember them from Texas). I have heard good things about them in Texas. BTW the body shop's final quote was in the ballpark of $4,000. All suspension and the only body panel was the plastic rocker panel.

I switched to Insurance. They were the best rates. I am spending $700 bucks for 6 months. That covers 2 drivers and 4 cars. Progressive was gonna up my rates from $1,200 to $1,500 for 6 months.

The car was ready today but I am in Denver so I will get her on Monday. If it isn't to my satisfaction I will simply return it and they WILL GET it right.
