Spoiler painted - now won't retract all the way
Re: Spoiler painted - now won't retract all the way
This appears to be a really activity trap
you might be better served in buying a new wing and just replacing it.
The cost associated with more time to correct the issue will more than cover a replacement.
or
You can work on it another 2-3 months and come to the same conclusion
Look on eBay
(BTW if you’re planning on keeping the car for awhile, it’s a good idea to start collecting spare parts.)
I don’t think anyone is making that wing for any other cars. Not a bad idea to have a spare.

Also how difficult is it to replace the wing?
Re: Spoiler painted - now won't retract all the way
Thanks for your reply. What would I be looking for? Does the used wings on eBay come with the assembly and joint? I see some are selling the motor separately but I feel like my motor works it seems to be an issue with the assembly. Thanks for letting me know.

Start by disconnecting the negative battery terminal
Don't mess around with motor and mech just buy a complete set (the Price for replacement part is equal to or less than 1 hour door rate at most service centers)
I've attached a link to one here
04-08 Chrysler Crossfire Coupe Rear Trunk Spoiler Wing w/ Motor White Tested OEM | eBay
Installation is super easy ( If you can work a basic set of tools you can do this. But its a good idea to have a torque wrench that capable of 6 Ft/Lbs or 71 Inch/Lbs. You don't NEED the Torque wrench BUT if the job's worth doing, its worth doing right)
Download a copy of the manual (located on this site)
See section 23
start at Page 116
(I've attached a low res copy of the Manual pages required)
You can remove your spoiler from the existing mech and motor
replace that item and reattach your spoiler to the new motor/mech assembly
Replace both mech and assembly and keep your existing for parts
This should take you 2 hours or less. Most likely less.
Just cover the painted areas where your working, You don't want to drop anything onto the paintwork.
You want a smooth transfer with minimal F words, so read up on the process in the manual then execute. It might also be a good idea to get a cheap set of body trim tools they make removal of the lower trim Panel for Hatch and roadster.
Please let us know how it works out for you.
Knowledge = confidence

But
if you’re going to purchase a replacement wing be sure to get the wing and mech specific to your particular model
they are different for coupe and roadster.
I know that this is stating the obvious but the obvious can get over looked.
Happy Sunday
it’s snowing here today, crap I really hate snow
