Looks like a hot air intake. I think the factory intake would be better.

If you are really interested in this dual air intake system, it can be had for a lot less money from same vendor on eBay. Comes in Blue, Red or Black. Several Crossfire Forum members use this system, or something very similar. The car below belongs to James1549.

I used the V8 MB airbox with intake tubes that run all the way to the core support. Air is brought in before the radiator.

So is your airbox the one that comes as a 2 piece assembly that snaps together? The Airbox and the Engine Cover.

There are at least three Mercedes air boxes that will fit the NA, l had three of them. Two I had were too high and rubbed hard against the hood liner, these went to the dump. The other one I had was 5/8” to 7/8” lower and did not rub hard.
It was a two-piece assembly, the nose piece and the part with the filters in it.
I’ll add a photo and the part number of the one I used. CLICK
It had larger intake holes in it and the Crossfire intake hoses fitted inside the box intake holes no on the outside. I used the Mercedes intake tubes that fit

Just curious on which V8 Airbox & Engine cover fits the NA. I've got the actual Airbox, which is a 1-piece unit, for the MB SLK320 on my car. And I know it is different compared to the V8 version. Purchased mine new from M-B before they discontinued the V6 version. Came from Germany for about $85 including the filter elements. Is the V8 airbox required if you perform the throttle body upgrade?
