2006 Crossfire needs:
2006 Crossfire needs:
1.) Real Xenon headlights.
2.) More freakin power.
3.) Real satin/brushed aluminum interior highlights where the plastic is.
3.) Steering wheel mounted audio and cruise control. The stick cruise control is dumb.
4.) Real side engine vents.
5.) Different wheel design.
6.) A good and cool looking rear diffuser.
7.) Get rid of the ridiculous huge steering wheel, and give it the proper small diameter sports car steering wheel.
8.) Lexus like lighting on the gauges and instruments.
9.) Better bucket seats, like those on the Viper, real aggressive ones.
10.) New vibrant exterior colors.
11.) LED rear tail lights.

Re: 2006 Crossfire needs:
That's a big list... so, why did you buy the car?
Also, it's way too late for 06' model year changes to be implemented. Right now, I would assume that DaimlerChrysler engineers are focused on 07' model year changes. It takes a long time to get new part ideas designed, tested for long-term durability, get tooling machined and in place, produce component parts, ship them to the assembly plant, and assemble it all into a car.
My dealership (perhaps not the best source of information) was under the impression that the 2006 model cars are completely carryover. But, I guess we'll wait and see in the fall, when they start hitting dealer lots.

Re: 2006 Crossfire needs:
I don't think they'll change much maybe in 06'-07' make the wing and wheels on the srt6 an option on Ltd models, or just a few new colors, new seats would be nice like the 350SLK. Or slam the 350 engine in it.
I want a Alabaster SRT6 or Blaze red with an auto wing. lowered from factory!

1.) Real Xenon headlights. --- A good idea, but it'll cost you a thousand plus on the sticker
2.) More freakin power. --- Ummm...errr... Please, Mr. Dealer, I want to buy an SRT6
3.) Real satin/brushed aluminum interior highlights where the plastic is. --- It would be a nice touch
3.) Steering wheel mounted audio and cruise control. The stick cruise control is dumb. --- No...the stalk is Mercedes
4.) Real side engine vents. --- <shrug>
5.) Different wheel design. --- Rather like them, myself. Perhaps you'd prefer to spend your days tuning wire spokes?
6.) A good and cool looking rear diffuser. --- bling <shrug>
7.) Get rid of the ridiculous huge steering wheel, and give it the proper small diameter sports car steering wheel.
..........--- Not really all that huge in the first place...but I'll sign on for the fun of it
8.) Lexus like lighting on the gauges and instruments.
..........--- also sounds like fun. But, spend a few years in earlier Jags, MGs, and Triumphs, and you'll
............appreciate what you have
9.) Better bucket seats, like those on the Viper, real aggressive ones.
..........--- If you are 6'1 and 12 stone, this is probably all right. For those of us who are of advancing years and
............whom are 'bodily challenged', aggressive buckets (eg Recaro) become uncomfortable really quite rapidly.
............I speak from experience. You'll understand when you're older.
10.) New vibrant exterior colors.--- New colors are always nice
11.) LED rear tail lights --- Is this truly a problem?
...sT

Re: 2006 Crossfire needs:
Here is my wish list:
1) Silver side strakes on the base coupe.
2) Introduce a few more colors on the base coupe (white, silver?).
3) Slightly different console, with real cup holders.
4) Upgrade the HVAC system ("Dual Zone" climate control doesn't mean "always luke warm on both sides of the car").
5) Rack and pinion steering gear instead of recirc ball.
6) Restyle the front clip to resemble the original concept car's (stacked headlamps on the leading edge of each fender, etc).
7) Put in a stereo system of better quality than the Kraco stuff you get at Pep Boys for $49.95.
Considering that you are getting German sports car performance and sophistication at slightly more than Mustang prices in the case of a Crossfire Coupe, is any of the above really worth complaining about? I mean, spending the money on items in my list (or yours) could mean that content is taken out of the powertrain, chassis, etc. Or, the price would go up. I figure I will live with a few faults, and enjoy real sports car performance, knowing full well that perfect cars are boring and it is often the quirks that give a car its character and flavor.

Re: 2006 Crossfire needs:
So, basically you want a Mercedes that is 100% Mercedes instead of 80%. Sounds like you probably picked the wrong car...or you're just having a "girly" moment and feel the need to complain - j/k. Seriously though, pretty much any car could probably be picked apart in one way or another depending on each individuals likes/dislikes - hence we have so many choices of what to own and do not all own the same car.
I don't believe there will even be an '07 of the Crossfire, at least by that name; they can't even figure out how to sell the '05s that are still sitting around.

The only reason to assume that there could be another Crossfire is that it gives Mercedes a chance to spread out SLK component costs over a larger volume. With the SLK being revised this year, a Crossfire based off of the new SLK350 (instead of the old SLK320) would be absolutely killer.

Re: 2006 Crossfire needs:
Very true - the Crossfire, like the Prowler was never meant to be a "mass production" car. It wasn't advertised very heavily as with the Prowler (or the Viper) because they are/were limited production vehicles. Obviously the Prowler and the Viper are more limited then the Crossfire - but still deemed limited production in comparison to the 300/C, Magnum, Charger, Jeep(s), Stratus, Neon, etc, etc.
Sales definitely did not take off like they anticipated they would as seen with the Prowler however, and since there are so many Crossfires sitting on lots (average is ~366 days) it's only logical to call an end to production...(If there was even a plan to keep producing them more than 3 years in the first place).

From my understanding the Crossfire was in a way a "spring cleaning" meaning that Mercedes could wind down and sell the remaining parts on the old R170 SLK while getting production and processes ready for the new R171 model.
Since I've also heard that the crossfire will be the last Chrysler product to get a chunk of MB parts...I will be highly shocked to see a '07 production Crossfire...
Re: 2006 Crossfire needs:
...I doubt that the Crossfire will be the last Chrysler product to use a lot of MB parts. After all, check out the 300C: transmission is a Mercedes design (but built in Chrysler's Kokomo plant), the rear subframe and all suspension components are last-gen Mercedes, and ESP (a Mercedes technology) finds itself in more than a few Chrysler products. Heck, the basic platform under the 300C was adapted from an old Mercedes architecture. As far as another Chrysler that is engineered and built nearly 100% by Germans, I don't think I would rule that out, either. Do you remember the Chrysler ME Four-Twelve? The buzz in the papers a few years ago was that they were strongly considering building a few. But then its strongest supporter (COO Wolfgang Bernhard) was booted, and well, the buzz dried up.
Re: 2006 Crossfire needs:
The Crossfire is definitely not the end of sharing MB parts; As juddz stated, the 300C is built on a C or E (I always mix them up) chassis, which is also what the Magnum and Charger are built on.
There is at least one ME Four-Twelve floating around in DCX's possession. They had it at SEMA last year and it was also featured in an Usher Movie/Video at the beginning of this year among other things I'm sure (it's a fully operational)...

Re: 2006 Crossfire needs:
It wasn't a music video, it was a special that ran on one of the network channels back several plus months ago...
I don't know where you could get a copy of it or if it's on the net anywhere...it's a mini movie called Rhythm City Vol. 1.
