Default XFIREX Crossfire VS. 2005 Mustang GT

A friend of mine ask me if we can race this Friday at the DFW Motorplex. Any chance to beat the stang?

XFIREX add ons:

1.) Upsolute chip = plus 20% HP..I was running 5.9 in 0-60 after chip
2.) K&N Filters = increases HP but minimal
3.) H&R lowering kit = decreases drag
4.) Magnaflow free-flow muffler = possible increase in HP
5.) Modified cold air intake system with bigger ram and turbonator = ??? HP but more torque now
6.) Will use autostick

Disadvantage:

1.) 100lb. speaker pods and amps in the trunk

Take out the speaker pods... J/K

Are you doing the quarter mile or a road course? I would predict the GT will take you in the quarter mile and you would take the road course. I'm not a big fan of the live rear axle on the GT and the XF handles much better.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Here is a link to the specs on the GT:

What kind of race?

By "plus 20%" are you referring to horsepower?

I don't think the upsolute program, or any for the crossfire, adds 20% hp. You're essentially saying that you have almost 260 hp.

K&N filters in the same airbox will amount to, what? an extra 1 or 2 hp... if any at all...

Realistically, (while still on the optimistic side) I think the gains of the chip and air flow might increase you to 240hp.

In a drag race, The GT will win. I dare say the 'stang will smoke you if this person is a good shifter. GT weighs about 250-ish pounds more. It has more HP and torque though.

On a track with various turns,

Tough to say, I think the crossfire has a bit more of an edge (even without the suspension mods)... but I think the driver would be the considering factor.

13s are better than 15s.

Ok, then does that mean I won't lend him my Mustang GT to smoke my XFIREX?

Ideally with the equal drivers, the Crossfire even with those "mods" will get its **** kicked like an Englishman saying love live the queen at an Irish Bar.

But given that anything happens it is possible for the mustang GT to lose. I raced one at the track and the one (stick) woman driving it ran a 15.3 vs my 14.2. And with R/T involved, it wasn't remotely close. Mine was a tad under a tenth while hers was .8 something. Then another woman in a mustang GT auto, was running very similar times as I was 14.1 was her best time. Then there was a guy running his 05' GT and was running 13.5's. Go figure.

So just hope the guy driving the GT sux. And the crossfire may creep a win if you drive it perfect.

What dose it matter who is faster? The Xfire is the better made car. The SRT-6 will beat the Mustang every time. 0-60: 4.8 sec. 1/4 mile: 13.3 sec. and in the slalom all the Xfires will beat the Mustang.

the SRT-6 is a different price range and gives more power than the mustang GT.

It's auto vs. auto from a zero stop with traction control OFF.

I just wanna have fun and test the record of my XFIREX with my new cold air intake which I just developed at half the price from Saskin's. I can feel more low end torque now even in the first gear and I can feel that the one second acceleration shift has significantly reduced to less than a quarter of a second. It's still in the process of completion and I might change the pipe with a plastic one than the chrome aluminum to reduce the heat. I may have to sacrifice the looks a little bit but hey, RED is cool!

Anyway, whoever wins...it's still me, cause the Tang is mine. I just find the XFIREX very challenging and sexy which is worth keeping in the garage polished and cloth than my Tang which is my daily driving car.

You have an 05' GT as your daily? I just got a new found respect for you. Even though they are both auto's the stang will win. You can hope for a best of mid 14's for the crossfire trapping at around 95. While in your stang, if you can launch it right mid 13's are around the corner with trap speeds over 100 mph. You really need to look into mod's for the stang with a remap of the ecu running on 93 octane low 13's are yours. And a few more bolt-on's say high to 12's.

Hey Cyril, what did you change on the intake? And how does the cover fit on? Looks like you added outside filters and removed the ones up in the airbox. Is that right?

I just changed the piping and remove the K&N filter in the airbox. I used turbonator at the junction of the plastic and aluminum tube to give more air turbulence. By the way Dan, in your intake system, did you have to saw off the air passageway to install your ram tubing? I think that's the only way to open up the entry and allow more air to come in. I do hate to do that but it's covered by the grill anyway!

Cyril, do you have an accelerometer? If so, please get some numbers so we can see how your new mods effect performance!

"F" a track! Race on the Autobahn. That's the true challenge. I have so far only been beat by a BMW M5. Don't get me wrong I pretty much drive the Autobahn everyday, so I've had a few races. I won't try to race a Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini.

so you purposely don't race cars faster than you so you can say you've never been beat? ok i guess.

The V-6 only needs so much air, maybe you've already max it out! Can you email me parts needed and a diagram?
