A mustang is always just that... a Ford.

Hey if you like power that's great, no one is saying the Crossfire is a straight line car. I bought my Xfire because its one of the most unique cars I've ever seen, has features out of the as*, and for $24,000 out the door with taxes, I was one happy MO FO.

All you guys comparing the Xfire to Z's and Stangs and car with obviously larger more powerful engines, just don't get why I bought my Xfire. I could have easily bought any GT car I wanted, including a Boxster S. I bought the Xfire because its unique, offers a great value, and when I drove it I fell in love with it. Can't explain it any better than that.

I see 20 G35 coupes a day, Z's are ugly as heck, and the new Mustang is even uglier. I don't care how much horsepower they have, I don't run with the lemmings.

Anyway, if you want to see why I picked the Xfire go here http://community.webshots.com/user/...rlordofillusion

I like unique cars.

If you could have gotten a Porsche Boxter S for 24k out the door you know you would have taken it. The boxter s is a fantastic car. And crossfires in my area out number boxter s's. IT seems them dealing on the XF has put them out on the street.

And the new solid rear axle setup is great, nothing like your buddies sn95. From Motortrend:

Braking, 60-0 mph, ft 115
600-ft slalom, avg MPH 69.9
200-ft skidpad, avg g 0.97

Not too bad for a $995 suspension upgrade from saleen. The stock rubber sux for handling. They are narrow 235's and all seasons. Just to show you what a few bucks into the mustang suspension can do. I hope the GT500 matches those numbers.

I don't care for the Boxsters styling to be honest. The Xfire looks 100 times better IMO. I chose the Xfire becuase it had lots of options and looks great. Power is of secondary importance to me. If that had been the most important thing to me I would have bought a G35 or Z. I can't stand the new Mustangs so it was not an option.

But yeah, if the point you are trying to make is that becuase of the price drop I jumped on it then golf clap for you, you have exposed me.

Bottom line is I love the car so far. Its just a nice blend of everything I like. If you are trying to convice people they made a mistake buying it then godspeed on your mission.

Thanks for posting those acceleration times. It's interesting to note that the 50-70 mph acceleration times for both the GT and the "inferior" Crossfire are the same - 9.5 seconds. I even double checked both for myself. If we look at Mayaman's original post about the GT on the highway, then it's very plausible to believe that he was able to keep up with the GT (and pass) with no problem, since they were both going at least 50 mph when they started tearing down the road.

Give some credit where credit is due and stop insinuating that Mayaman is a liar.

LOL yes we all do top gear acceleration to determine which is the faster car LOL. Have them both down shift and see what happens. The mustang has a 5th gear ration of .67 compared to the crossfires .838, so that has nothing to say which is faster. Just the one has the advantage in gearing.

If you want to use that as an example the 05 Corvette does the 50-70 test in 9.6 seconds. So does that make the crossfire and Mustang GT the faster car? Please.

Think your next post all the way through next time.

I don't think he is calling me a liar, at least I don't think so. Also, if people would read I said that the stang was at least 5 car lengths back behind some other cars and I could hear him dump it. LOL , but I was already on it and he still passed me on the straight.

but on the turns no matter what anybody says to me that thing is a sled. The dude was braking and then I'd hear him stomp it while all I did was keep my foot down.

I already said that straight line is not contest. But as people know, NASCAR sucks! Real drivers like twisty roads and circuits. And like I said before my 91 S2 Porsche with only 208 HP keeps us on the back roads of Trumbull with my buddies mid 90s Mustang with mods easily.

What he has in power I make up in handling. I prefer good handling and decent power to tremendous power and so so handling. I've had both and prefer handling over power.

Guess I'm a wimp.

I test drove the new gt mustang, stick and i wasn't impressed so much so that I let my friend and the salesman drive my car and then jump into the stang and the three of us agree off the line the crossfire pulls faster, but the stang walks away in third "high revs" ... plus how can you design a car
as nice looking as the stang and then put those butt ugly door speakers in it just lame..

Or pay 39k and buy a Shelby GT500

Gt500>srt-6>GT

Bullseye, I haven't been here long, but you sound like you don't like your Crossfire much. Almost like its a red headed step child. Sounds like you bought the wrong car for you, I'm sure you could sell it on Ebay and get enough money to get something with lots more power.

Am I wrong? Sorry if I am.

Mayaman, you hit the nail on the head. Bullseye is cynical of anything positive said about the Crossfire and if someone either beats or matches another sports car in any kind of speed competition, he doesn’t believe it, no matter how credible the story. It’s either driver error, a case of mistake car identity, or the planets were aligned so that all Ford’s had a loss of horsepower. For example, your story of the Mustang GT. I’m surprised he hasn’t jumped all over the guy who said he’s never been beaten by a S2000 (Wonderdallas, I believe).
His Crossfire is a lease (which he won’t get rid of because of negative equity) and he has a STR-4, which you would think would make him happy enough to leave us alone.

Keeping the crossfire for the rest of the lease. But i did rectify the power problem. I bought a srt-4. Cheap fix for now.

Not everything, I always agree the car looks good.

S2k's are hard to drive, so he is beating driver. S2k's are the faster car. Drivers equal s2k/GT> Crossfire. Its not that i am bashing its the truth.

Funny how you don't bring up how wrong you were on the comparison to 50-70mph.

Yeah, its faster. But faster is not everything. Like I said, seems like you have a need for speed. Why didn't you notice that its not as fast as the other cars during your test drive?

I got exactly what I wanted out of my test drive. I drove a number of cars and overall the Xfire gave me everything I wanted. It has decent power, good comfort, lots of features, safety features, looks, and intangibles like how I feel when driving it.

I guess you should have done more research or taken a longer test drive because its like you never drove the car before you leased. I knew exactly what I was buying.

edit:And I don't sacrifice things just for speed. I drove an SRT 4 and while fast its kinda a POS. I mean, its an econobox with a turbo. No matter how fast you go and how many cars you beat people are still gonna go "Yeah, but its a Neon".

What do you think the dart with the hemi was? it was an econo box with power. Just like the srt-4 on a lesser degree. And that neon is the one you just lost to. More insulting to get beat by the neon that to be the guy calling it one. LOL.

I test drove the car and thought i could live with the power, and thought the aftermarket would pick up, though it never did. Man if i just waited, i would probably be driving a gto for 270 a mo, or even now the have S2k's brand new for $309 a mo.
Crazy.

If i had to do it over again from that point, i would have bought the Mini Cooper S, if i did not wait.

Mummy no my friend. You see, while I'm cruising to the movies or dinner with my girl in my stylish equipped GT coupe, you are going light to light impressing girls who chew bubble gum with their mouth open.

I lost? LOL, who gives a rats as*. Whoopoodeedoo, I lost to a turbo charged Neon which weighs half as much, looks like a little mouse on steroids, and sounds like a car with no mufflers. Oops, it doesn't have mufflers.

Listen Bullseye, I know arguing over the internet is pointless but from everything I hear, you say it sounds like you didn't even test drive this car. Its a GT car not a pure sports car. Its great at what it does.

If you want a stripped out little econobox that can do 12's in the quarter mile, be my guest. I for one wouldn't be caught dead in such trash and I know for a fact REAL women laugh at stop light drag guys. What are we? 17 years old here?

Anyway, like what you like man, hate the crossfire all you want. It doesn't change the fact that its a great all around GT car, the best looking GT car out in years, and gets hated on a lot by rice rocket lovers and dudes who love to point out how it won't beat cars with greater displacement. Well DUH.

LOL, and you said you'd take a Mini Cooper S over the Crossfire? That makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever.

P.S.~

The S2K is a pain in the as* to drive and IMO looks like sh*t. But whatever floats your boat man.

Final edit: Why not get an SRT-6...problem solved.

Getting pretty testy aren't we? Time and time again, the girlfriend laughs at the boyfriend when they lose to my srt-4. IT is great. Then they continue to make them selves look stupid by asking in i have No2. And the crossfire is only about 150lbs heavier than the SRT-4.

And you bought the car to impress women? LOL If you need a car for that I feel sorry for you. Must be quite the looker.

Yes, the SRT-4 is a neon, I still don't get all your guys argument with that. Um, don't forget the crossfire is a hand me down on a decade old platform.

Take it from the professionals, they SRT-4 is now the market standard. Fastest car for under 21k. And is respected by true car enthusiasts. The crossfire is considered a failure, and a joke by the professionals and enthusiasts alike. That's why you can find the crossfire for such a good price, because it is a dud.

And the Mini Cooper S is a wise choice, because if I ended up not being happy with that, BTW: its as quick as the crossfire, I could trade in easily with out losing a dime. They have insane resale value.

If I didn't have the Crossfire to begin with I may have gotten a SRT-6, I was quoted with out my trade it would be 499 a mo no money down.

Have fun stylin', while I have fun driving.

Bullseye, you obviously are one of those people that like to twist things around and make yourself look good.

Yes, I am in fact quite the looker, thank you.

No I don't need cars to get women, I said that "real" women don't like ricer boy racers.

The only one getting antsy is you.

I already have a Porsche to race around in, the Crossfire is a GT (For the 10th time).

Anyway, proceed to twist statements in 3...2...1...

And yeah, the SRT4 is fast, congrats on that.

Well since you'll probably retort with something about how the Crossfire sux or how its a failure or something along those lines why not just not post. I mean, this is a forum for people that actually enjoy the car. Are you a masochist? You obviously hate the car. Why keep trying to rain on other peoples parades that like the car? Does it make you feel better?
