Interested in turbocharged( 400+/-) Xfire?
I know the company that is willing to do the whole turbo set up, ECU, and plus the head change for better boost control, and up to 400 horses. They told me that if I can get couple more people willing to do the job, they are willing to give us huge discount, please let me know who is up for this?
Re: Interested in turbocharged( 400+/-) Xfire?
buy ant srt6? if the turbo is 6k, your looking at about a 32k car with the prices now. i swear you guys are just hating for the sake of hating now. 400hp for 32k, sh*t, wtf more do you want, bullseye. thats the price of a track model 350z, a grand less i think. get over yourself bro, thats a huge deal. now for some serious numbers its a fact that would run 12.6-12.8

Give me a SRT-6 over a hodge podge 400hp crossfire anyday.
I wouldn't even consider the turbo package unless the internals were swapped. Not to mention i would want an intercooler, there is not much room, and heat is already a problem in the engine bay. Don't forget about the clutch either. 6k is wishful thinking. At least all said and done with tuning you are looking at 10k. Done right that is. And dropping that much cash into a car to run with a stock 03 cobra just seems a bit much to me.
SRT-6 is just the smarter way to go. Or just buy a used Z06 for low 30's, and whoop some serious as*.

I like and have always respected you bullseye. I have never ever been derogatory towards any poster, because internet thugs bug me. Im not an internet thug, im just x'ed and who I am nobody will ever know. But now you have forced me to be derogatory with words. Understand still that I like you, but no better words can say this
man this feels bad but,
show me chump, an srt-6 in the 20's, used or whatever. That's as mean as I get on the net "chump" but show me chump, just once srt-6 in the 20's. Say it cost, ridiculous estimate, but 8 grand for the turbo, show me one car that has all the crossfire has for 34 grand. New crossfires, 26k, plus 8 in upgrades. And since when did you start using the pusy as* warranty argument.
holla,
you'll never win,
mike

Re: Interested in turbocharged( 400+/-) Xfire?
Bullseye, you need to come into the 21st century. There are companies now that market turbo's that mount near the rear axle. It alleviates the problem of heat and space in the engine compartment. That leaves space for an intercooler as well. As far as the internals are concerned, there is no need. Mercedes over engineers all their engines. 10 PSI would not hurt this engine as long as the chip was reprogrammed for the boost and you added a better fuel pump to handle the additional fuel requirements. Hope that's what this is , I keep hoping for a package from DC on the supercharger, but this might be far cheaper and better in the long run. (No parasitic losses). As far as your point about the leases, I agree with you.

Re: Interested in turbocharged( 400+/-) Xfire?
rear axle turbo? i haven't heard of these yet, but how would you get compressed air from the rear axle to the intake? it seems like there would be a ton of loss, not to mention the fact that by the time exhaust gets to the rear axle, its lost all its "energy" through cats and mufflers. how does it run a turbo spool all the way back there?
Re: Interested in turbocharged( 400+/-) Xfire?
I thought so as well, but the piece I saw was on Speed Channel on Two Guys Garage. They mounted it on something like a 2000 Camaro. The unit sits next to the rear end housing. Actually the exhaust loses very little heat or pressure in a good system. The intercooler isn't needed and nothing but a pipe ran forward to the throttle body. Very compact neat system. The waste gate was also something very different, no turbo lag and it makes what they call a "Unique" sound. I'm sure if you're interested you could find the info on their web site.It supposedly can be removed in as little as an hour, so that should address all those issues with the lease. I'll look later and see if I can find a link for you.
The system is made by Squires turbo Systems ( www.ststurbo.com ). I sent them an e-mail asking about our stuff. their systems sell for about 4K - 5K. You can link through (www.twoguysgarage.com). Its set up for 5 LBS of boost but can be modified for as much as 20. I hope they look at our car seriously.

10 Psi wont hurt it eh? Sounds familiar what my friend said with his rsx type s on stock internals, he blew a chunk of the block out the size of a baseball. And he had a great tune.

If you would like to read my post again, I said finish your lease, which would be 2 years or so away. I would guarantee that you will find a srt-6 for mid-high 20's. Never did I say buy one used now for that price.
8k is reasonable amount especially with labor involved. Hell everyone was looking at 12-14k to do the IHI supercharger bit.
And name one car that has everything the crossfire has? For 34k? G35 coupe if you want to go new, R32, cobra, s2k Just to name a few. And used, how about a used z06 as i said. I know you would probably trade your XF for a z06 in a heart beat. And you can pick up e46 m3's now in the low to mid 30's.
X'ed admit it, you bought the crossfire because you were shopping payment. IF they matched a cobra or s2k at your payment now same terms you would not be driving a crossfire, and I don't think anyone could blame you.
