Default First Oil Change

Did my first dealer oil change today; I was very animated towards the service guy, who happened to work for me in the past, about the mobil synthetic oil.
He said that the would use the what the manufacturers recommended.

i believe people have been paying more towards the 100.00 mark, however, i refuse to let the dealer touch the car after hearing so many horror stories, so i'll be doing the oil change myself.

I guess I got ripped off. Or maybe not. I paid $217.51 Canadian for my first oil change at the dealer. The most expensive Oil I have ever purchased. $120 for the oil $16 for the filter $49 labor and $26 in tax.
And the mechanic could not reset the electronic display re service required.
Ouch
Guess I better price out the oil and look for another place.
It just worries me that the warranty might be challenged in future if I don't have good evidence of maintenance.

My thoughts exactly! I shopped for my SRT-6 in three different markets(Ohio, Georgia and Florida). None of the sales staff new much of anything about the car. One dealer in Cincinnati, OH had two SRTs on his lot. I wanted to test drive either of the two. There was only one problem, they wouldn't start! This dealer had not touched these SRTs since they hit his lot and parked them out front in the winter mud. Now I ask myself, if this is how they are treating this car on the front side, how are they gonna treat it in the bays? The kicker is that once they got it up and running, it almost ran out of gas! OUCH!

Make a long story shorter I will not let my local dealer touch my SRT for anything if I can help it. I took it to my local Mercedes dealer for an oil change (about 102.00 out the door) with the reasoning that these guys have been trained on this engine and working on it for several years. They had everything in stock (no surprise there) and I can tell you that just about every tech in the shop walked over to check out the ride! They ALL loved it and said it was much sweeter than the SLK.

How about that. My mother lives in Moore, OK. I usually get up to see her once a year. If I go this year I might look you up.

There is no hard and fast "mileage" when service is due on a Crossfire. Check out the "FSS" section in your owners manual, it will answer your question.

Your indicator light should come on about 7,000 miles and it could be a signal wrench or a 2 wrenches with + or - giving mileage over or before maintenance is due so just watch your trip-o-meter.

I just had my first oil change. The FSS system started giving me the wrench and number code at around 2500 KM! I ignored it as I was told that the oil was good for 7000 KM. The number in the code changed but not by the number of KMs I drove (I am in canada). It started as a wrench and 133 and went up by one number every 5-7 days. So the number cannot be number of miles/KMs traveled. When i finally got it in to the Chrysler dealer, I asked if the number was some sort of an "error code" and they didn't know!!

I never got two wrenches showing. They were very nice at the dealership but had no clue as to what the different numbers were telling me. Could it be that they are number of hours of running time? Does anyone know? Is it in the factory shop manual?

I appreciate the information....I only have 4500 miles on my car and wondered if I should have my first oil change done earlier than the manual suggested...Thanks for the input.

I got mine done Monday with 7500 miles indicated. The fss display never came on. When I asked the tech (DC trained for our car) he said there is a sensor which detects when the oil needs changing and it might not come on till 10k!! Oil, filter, reset and check and fill all fluids $114. I bought my Quad cab from this dealer and they have a small but competent service department. They wouldn't come off the price (32k) back in Sept. When I bought mine (they still have 4 of the 5 they had then). Even so, they didn't mind servicing mine and told me to come in for warranty work as well since they are closer to me than the dealer I bought from. I thought that was decent of them! I've read so many posts of horror stories at DC dealers, I thought You'd like to see that many are very good.

The numbers in your case were days of being over, keep in mind that there is a clock also in this time schedule: it can come dew by miles, time or viscosity:
Your vehicle will tell you when it is time for maintenance if the timer is reset right.
Make sure the dealer didn't sent the new vehicle prep man to crossfire class, they should have sent a working tech.
but to meet numbers they keep the tech working and send someone of least importance to class on this type of vehicles and send tech.'s to class on the engine, trans of body electrical try to talk to the person that went to class on the vehicle and see if he remembers any thing from the class if not you may want to take it to another dealership or a benz. dealer.

The manual says to change the oil at 7000 miles or in Canada about 11000 km. That is if i figured it out correctly.
I don't know what the numbers that you were getting means. You will only get two wrenches if the FSS system thinks you need the more frequent service. I will look in the repair manual to see if I can find out what the number means. Will let you know.
