This is right out of the service manual.
The FSS is supplied the time intervals from the digital clock in the instrument cluster. The remaining information is supplied by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and the Controller Antilock Brake (CAB) via the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus. The data required for FSS from the CAN includes the following:
The four wheel speed sensors from the CAB.
Coolant temperature from the PCM.
Engine speed from the PCM.
Load torque from the PCM.
TRIP ODOMETER, FSS INDICATOR
This display in the instrument cluster shows the distance traveled since last reset.
To reset:
Press the button to the left of the display once (with the key in the ON/RUN position).
Press the button twice (with the key removed or in the OFF/ACC position).
MAIN ODOMETER
This shows the total distance the vehicle has traveled.
The FSS permits a flexible service schedule that is directly related to the operating conditions of the vehicle.
There are two symbols which will appear in the main odometer display field prior to the next suggested service.
This symbol represents Service A.
1 Wrench
The second symbol represents Service B.
2 wrenches
Depending on operating conditions throughout the year, the next service is calculated and displayed next to the this symbol in days remaining before the next service is required.
Clock w/ a wrench
The next service may be calculated and displayed next to this symbol as distance remaining before the next service is required.
1 wrench
The counter can also be reset by any individual after the indicated service has been performed.
Perform the following to reset the counter:
Turn the ignition key to the ON/RUN position.
Within one second press the ****/button to the left of the display twice.
The present status for days remaining or distance traveled is displayed. Within ten seconds turn the key to OFF.
Press and hold the ****/button to the left of the display, while turning the key to ON/RUN again. The present status for days remaining or distance traveled is displayed once more. Continue to hold the ****/button to the left of the display.
Release the ****/button to the left of the display. After approximately ten seconds, a tone sounds and the display shows 7,000 miles (11,000 km) for approximately ten seconds.
If the FSS counter was inadvertently reset, the counter must be reset.
The message is displayed for approximately ten seconds when turning the key to the ON/RUN position, or while driving when reaching the service warning threshold. It can be cancelled manually by pressing the ****/button to the left of the display.
Once the suggested term has passed, the message, plus either the symbol for Service A or the symbol for Service B preceded by a “–” (minus symbol) blinks for approximately thirty seconds and a tone sounds every time when turning the key to the ON/RUN position.
The FSS display can also be called up for approximately ten seconds with the display illuminated by pressing the ****/button to the left of the display twice within one second.
NOTE: When disconnecting the battery for one or more days at a time, such days will not be counted. Any such days not counted by the FSS can be added.
The interval between services is determined by the type of vehicle operation. Driving at extreme speeds, and cold starts combined with short distance driving in which the engine does not reach normal operating temperature, reduce the interval between services.

I've read so many posts of horror stories at DC dealers, I thought You'd like to see that many are very good.

DAN, I was referring to Crossfire's. I went there first (I had bought my Quad cab over a year ago and got a great deal from them). They had 5 the day I was shopping. They still have four of them. They will take 4k off INVOICE for a new one & 7k for a demo. Invoice is around 29k. You just have to cut down on the caffeine there guy.

Dealer Oil Change Package
When I recently purchased my Crossfire, my dealer offered me a flexible and what appears to be an economic oil change package. For $60 x 12 oil changes = $720 I get 12 oil changes which includes oil filter and 0-40 Mobile One (8~ quarts) including setting the FSS and checking and topping and checking all other fluids and procedures for the Schedule A Service.
So essentially, this covers the Schedule A service.
On pricing these components at AutoZone here is what I find as a comparison...
8 quarts of 0-40 Mobile One = $5.29 each or = $42.32
1 STP S8481 Oil filter $10.99
Total $53.31 + tax = $56.51
I look at this as a fairly good deal and one I will use in the winter months when I do not want to crawl under the car in below freezing temps.
Just wondering, do your dealers offer such oil changes packages as well?

Safely home after 1st service. The service people at Naugle Motors in Shippensburg were very nice, a 5 star dealer. I took the print outs for the rattle and wind noise & they are ordering the parts, will gladly take RED885 back to them. They have a nice clean service area with a large window in the waiting area (so I could keep an eye on what they were doing, and I did). 7 quarts of oil, filter, etc = $86.50.Checked to make sure he reset the FSS, good job!

reset the light. Then they put the oil change sticker reminder on the window written for
another oil change after another 3000 miles. DDUUUHHH! Then Chrysler wonders why
they sit on their lots unsold. Can't wait to see what happens when I bring it back in for
the wind noise problem. Come to think of it...I better see if they put the right oil in!

I would generally agree with you, about the advice here, but in this case you're wrong. Our cars REQUIRE 8.5 quarts of Mobil 1 synthetic oil. You must not have received the update for your manual. As stated above ask your dealer.

Rep said when I bring it in for service, they will take care of it. I presently have one 4784 miles on the car, so I guess that I will wait until I have around 7000 miles or if the oil starts looking discolored to have my first oil change. Does this sound reasonably??? This is my first experience with syn. oil.

DO NOT WAIT. The engine system actually checks the condition of various things and tells you when to change the oil. It depends on conditions (where you live) and how you drive. If the wrench is up with a minus value its time to change the oil. If the car sat for some time the dealer should do this one for free.
