The trans oil idea doesn't make too much sense unless there was faulty oil but even that would be hard to believe.

I can believe the group of serial numbers with bad synchros. Any idea what block of serial #s?

Rumor has it, MB manual transmissions are less than great... My 6spd works, but the minute it breaks, I'm not replacing it with the OEM... PS: I'm always trying to break it !!!

Oh sure - Your build number is the last 6 digits of your VIN. Mine is 013887. You can find the VIN in the lower left hand corner of your windshield, or on your purchase contract, or insurance documents.

Andrew: I know mine is very close to yours, something like 013884 I think and it works pretty good. How is yours?

Hey Bob:
My trani is very reluctant when its cold, but shifts well when its warm. This leads me to believe that it is NOT the linkage because it would always be hard shifting, warm or cold, if it was linkage. I think its just an idiosyncracy and I'm willing to accept it. Plus, it prevents me from goosing it when everything's cold, and its good practice on double-clutching.

Your right, you shouldn't put the power down until it is good and warm. Standards are stiff when their cold, it's normal!
