Thumbs up Extended Warranty ???

Hi
Just bought a 2004 leftover coupe Blaze red vin #18137. The dealer is trying to get me to buy this extended warranty program for $1380, He said it extends the basic
bumper to bumper 36k miles / or 3 years to 7 years/70.k What do you think???
I keep my cars for a long time, it also extends the loaner car program and give $250/ coverage on the tires for pot hole damage.

I don't keep my cars that long to care, but did you know it has a 7/70k mile drivetrain warrenty already! That's 2x as long as the Benz with the same drivetrain. I say spend it minor mods. Rotex gold brake pads in front apx $100. installed. ECU chipped 300-500, K&N filters, 60. Crossdrilled rotors 300. Borla exhaust 600, from mopar, etc.

Hi
I understand that you have a 7year/ 70,000 power train warranty. But after 3 years or 36,000 miles your " bumper to bumper" protection ends and you have ONLY powertrain.
This extended warranty exteneds the " bumper to bumper" warranty to 7/ 70,000.

If you can get it financially, do it since you keep your cars for a long time. Yeah the powertrain is ok, but the bumper to bumper is only 3/36 and in there falls your A/C, Power Windows and Locks, Rear Deployable Wing Motor and Sensor, Wiper Motor, Alarm, Remote entry system, etc. These are the kind of things that usually go first in a car so i would definitely get it, you'll regret it later if something happens and you didn't get it.

AND remember, here you're dealing with alot of Mercedes Benz parts not Chrysler parts so, if you think that you dont need the ext. warranty cuz the repair on those items listed above are cheap cuz it's American, you'll be in shock when you hear the prices, because the parts are all Mercedes-Benz German parts - on the pricey side.

Just save yourself the worry and if you can, get it.

If your are keeping the car get it. I have bought it for 3 cars in the past and it has paid for itself many times over. The price you were quoted also sounds good.

I bought it too, and it is peace of mind. The only problem is if you are going to soup it up, there goes your warranty.

I got mine from Warranty Direct. $100 deductible - 7yr - 70,000 miles. It is designed to cover everything except the powertrain which is covered by Chrysler. The cost was $700. Keep in mine most dealers use a third party and not Chrysler. I checked with my service department and they had dealt with, and had no problems, with the company. I also checked with the Better Business Bureau. They can be found at www.warrantydirect.com. I plan on keeping the car for 7 years and my mileage is low as it is garaged in the winter (110 inches of snow so far this year!). All warranty companies make there big bucks when the insured trades in the vehicle well before their warranty (and often the new car warranty) expires. If you plan on keeping the car for the full term of the warranty and need protection from a major expenditure the extended warranty may be a good choice for you. Remember the dealer is usually a middle-man in the transaction. Shop around. You can probably do better on you own. Just make sure you check out the company you choose. There are a number of reputable companies. Unfortunately the opposite is true also. Good luck with your decision.

I paid about $1200 for the 7/70 bumper to bumper and they do the oil changes. One thing to keep in mind is that you have to follow whatever maintenance requirements the warranty company has. Mine requires the oil to be changed at a minimum of 5K miles or it is void, but since they are paying for them, I don't really care.
