Question Tire Inflation Monitor

Test drove a coupe 2 weeks ago. Tire inflation warning was on - told to ignore it. Bought a different coupe, test drove it before I signed the papers, tire inflation warning light was on was told they'd pick it up and fix it. They picked it up "fixed it", 3 days later came back on. Car at dealership for 2nd day, they don't know what is wrong. Any ideas????

could be:
- bad tire preasure sensor(TPS)
- need new battery for TPS
- bad receiver
- your tires are loosing air slowly

Thanks for the input. Wouldn't the dealer check for those problems? I'm also concerned that two different cars had the same problem, but not see anything out there that this is a common problem. Have you heard of it anywhere else?

The dealer should be able to tell you which tires are raising the flag. Once you figure this out, try to measure the tire preasure. Then you go from there.
The dealer should be able to check those. Not sure why they don't do that.

Right now, dealer is dumbfounded - Sales manager said that he did make service put sensors out of a "working" vehicle on the lot into my vehicle, but to no avail. Also had problem with homelink (they are on the same circuit), but they replaced that and it's worked so far. Have had lots of miscommunications with the dealer and screw ups (misordered optional parts, scheduled service when a crossfire certified mech not on duty, etc. -- all in weeks time!) Obviously, I'm frustrated. Can u tell me it's going to be worth it to keep the vehicle? I'm really bummed and have no new car joy right now. Thanks again for your input!

I know this is going to sound stupid, but maybe you should check the tire pressures yourself to make sure they are where they should be. I can't remember because the car isn't here right now and I don't want to get dressed to go out to see, but I think the label in the drivers side door jam says they need 32 front and 33 back PSI. You should check to see what your's says. When I got my car home from the dealership, they had 25 psi in each tire and it didn't take long for the light to come on. I fixed it and it didn't happen again until the temps here went below freezing. The cold weather made the pressure less. Where are you from?
With the home-link acting up though, sounds like it could be a bad receiver.
These sound like minor things. Don't get discouraged. You have an awesome car!

Right now nothing sounds stupid to me. Appreciate your thoughts. Chicago here. One thing that really has me ticked is that the loaner the dealer gave me is a TOWN & COUNTRY. Think they really were trying to do me a favor though by not making me go through Enterprise. If we get this worked out, I really need to tell them to think about it before they put a new crossfire owner into a mini-van. You should hear the grief I'm getting at work!

I had this problem when mine was delivered. The tech reset the sending units and it's been fine since then. He said they use a magnet to reset them.

If any or all of the wheels are exchanged or replaced on your vehcile, the TPM must be recallibrated by the servicing tech. Obviously, if they are swapping the wheels with another Crossfire, this would be the problem. Also, plan on checking your tire pressure frequently with this vehicle.......do it when the tires are cold, first thing in the AM....and save yourself the grief of premature wear on $300+ tires.

I had the same issue when i got mine. I think my problem was it was getting a little colder each morning and the pressure was low because of cold air. by the time I was half way to work the light went out, tire warmed up and air expanded. Top off your tires on a very cold morning, should fix it.

I put air in my tires as per the DC specs in 60 degree weather in the fall and have since seen -40 degree and no additional air since. No warning lights other than when I have a cut tire. Driving all winter.

That's a complicated problem for the dealer to fix! Imagine this......if they can't fix my door problem how much more the electronic part of the crossfire? And check your car before you leave the lot 'cause they are known to cause more trouble. Once you receive the survey from DC...dump 'em!

Go to a bigger dealership that can really sell a crossfire....maybe they can fix it better!

Gee, I think you may be right, I think my husband keeps turning up the thermostat!
No wonder it's so warm in here!
You wouldn't know this, being from CA, but I have to put a winter coat, boots, gloves and a hat on just to go to the detached garage! It's COLD outside!

Oh,sorry, I dropped the pictures in the snow last time I went outside and they are ruined.
Bummer.

Yes, it is inside the tire presure monitor. If the battery gets low it sets the Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
