Bas esp light on - then gear indicator window goes dark
Bas esp light on - then gear indicator window goes dark
You guys have helped me tremendously when I had the crankshaft position sensor issue, so here I am again. This morning on the way to work my 04 Crossfire Coupe's BAS ESP light came on. I was on the highway going around 60 mph and just held that speed until I had to get off the hwy and stop at red light. I stopped just fine, but when I began to accelerate, it was like I was stuck in mud - I had to really lay on it to get it to move. At that point I noticed that instead of the gear window showing "D", it was all blacked out. I had to stop several more times, no braking issues, but again it wouldn't move unless I stood on the gas. Also, even on level ground, between the time that I took my foot off the brake and moved it to the gas pedal, the car would begin to roll backwards.
Re: Bas esp light on - then gear indicator window goes dark
Your transmission is going into limp mode, It stays in what ever gear you were in when the lights came on. 60 mph means 5th gear, when you stopped and then tried to pull out, you where pulling out in 5th gear. It has happened to mine several times. I also get the brake ware indicator, brake, and asp lights, the brake lights also quit working and the fin goes up and stays up. Engine runs fine until I turn it off then no crank. Sometimes taking the battery terminals off and then back on will reset something and it will work for a while. I had more symptoms than most rcm no crank issues. I finally gave up and bought a new rcm. Instant relief, no problems since. The brake light issue is weird. If I could get the brake lights to work it would start. No lights no crank.
Re: Bas esp light on - then gear indicator window goes dark
I had similar symptoms as atvken.
The traction control relay (one of the 5 relays in the RCM) in my Crossfire went bad and it caused all sorts of problems in addition to not cranking. The blacked out autostick selector indicates that you are in limp mode and limited to 2nd gear. When I was first experiencing issues and before it would no longer crank after temporarily disconnecting the negative battery cable, I was noticing similar transmission slippage issues, not to mention having to use a ball point pen to release the gear selector to shift out of park.
