Default Reasonably Priced Cold Air Indution?

Does anyone have any experience with the AirAid "U-build-it" cold air induction kit? It comes with a variety of tube lengths, elbows, connectors etc. at various diameters for installation into just about any car. The Crossfire throttle body has a vertical air intake which may prevent use of this kit due to limited hood clearance. Any information would be appreciated as the kit is reasonably priced.

I'd have to say silicon couplings and aluminum tubing from Ebay is a less expensive option than anything they offer.

I've just yet to see anyone post the numbers needed.. 30 deg. and 60 deg.. or two 45 deg. and lengths.. etc. Looks like about 100 bucks or so and you could be done with a single intake.

I've been looking at the Dodge Nitro intakes for maybe the Y on a dual setup.

Look at this post, I listed all the parts I used to make a DCAI.

I have since changed out the Alum Y pipe for this silicone T.

It wouldn't on an VA, but a short radius 90 deg pipe and a short 3"hose would make it fit.
HOWEVER, then there would be no place for the IAT/MAF sensor on an NA.

Here's an SRT-6 with that type of Y pipe. There are several version's with different holes for the PCV hose but this shows they will fit. The link to the eBay auction is the lowest price I've found for it.

From what I've dug around on.. the Vette intake is 3.5 dia.. the Nitro 3.7L appears to be 3" ..

That's why it should work on the SRT. The ID of the TB is 74mm so the OD with the rubber gasket would be close to 3.5". If you went with 3" ID on the Y pipe the OD would be around 3.125" How would you attach that to the TB?

Do you have the stock or larger TB on your roadsters?

Also using a silicone coupler would also require more depth than clamping the Y pipe directly onto the TB.

2 with upgraded and 1 stock.. changing that today after some logged runs.. coupler can be cut to exact flange match up between TB and Tube.. Throttle bodies have the same OD on them..

And that would be one heck of a clamp to squeeze that aluminum tubing down for a seal.. LOL. And we have to keep in mind I'm looking at N/A.. where height is a concern.

I think on the photo above they cut slits into the aluminium to make it squeeze the gasket.

Do you know the exact OD of the TB offhand? I rough measured it without pulling it apart at 3.5"

Have you found the Y pipe without the filters? It seems they all come just as a kit only.

OD at the inlet is right at 3 1/8" .. not a fan of this one.. but it is "just a Y "..

Yeah, I saw those y's before, hard to tell if they would fit.
It's all kinda of confusing, this auction for a Y that supposed to fit a Nitro says it a 3.5" pipe.

Your absolutely correct.. could have sworn I read an add that stated 3 inch.. and I liked this one since you could just cap the nipple instead of dealing with the hole bored in it..

Looked at so damn many.. this might be where that 3 inch thought came from.. LOL
