How loud is the interior of your Crossfire?
Re: How loud is the interior of your Crossfire?
I have read a post that someone added soundproofing in the wheelwells. I think I may do some tests with ordinary towels, and if it helps, I might add more. Seriously, remove the trunk floor, and be amazed how much it helps.

Check out the videos on youtube about Home Depot stuff called Peel & Seal Aluminum MUCH cheaper and they say it works real good.

2004 coupe
23K miles
original stock exhaust
new (~200 miles) Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position S-04 tires
radio and AC/fan off, windows up
Soundmeter app, phone held between my head and steering wheel.
newly paved asphalt highway @60 mph on flat surface (constant accelerator position) = 62 dB
idle, stationary (neutral or in drive) = 43 dB
engine off = 22 dB
ambient, outside, night (crickets, locusts, tree frogs) = 35 dB
while accelerating briskly or on rougher roads I did get occasional readings over 70.
for comparison, engine off my daily driver (04 Olds Alero) is 23 dB. will try to see where it is at 60 mph.
my wife's voice, after I forgot to take out the recycling = 92 dB.

Re: How loud is the interior of your Crossfire?
I realize that most of you probably do not have a sound meter but I thought I that I would share my results with a sound meter that I have (it is accurate within 1.5dB). My Crossfire is so loud inside that to be honest I hate to drive it very far. It is all tire/road noise and not engine noise. The tires are directional Copper ZEON 2XS (mileage unknown) that appear very aggressive and this is hopefully the reason for the noise.
I took all of the following readings of our three vehicles at ear level between the driver and passenger (above the console) and the results are as follows:
2014 KIA Cadenza (40,000 miles on tires) = 64dB
2008 Dodge RAM 1500 4 wheel drive pickup (aggressive tires) = 70dB
2006 Crossfire Limited Coupe = 78db!
I expected the Crossfire to be considerably louder than the Cadenza but not to be louder than our Hemi pickup. Most of the noise in the Crossfire is coming from the back. In fact, if I put the meter in the back it reads well into the upper 80's.
When time permits I am going to put a new set of Hankook Ventus S1 noble on as Tirerack.com rates them as very quiet. Will report the new, and hopefully better, sound results after installation.

the tires were hard as a rock , date code revealed tires were almost 10 years old. A new set of Michelins all around quieted it significally .
Re: How loud is the interior of your Crossfire?
THAT is the overriding reason I run only Hankooks - they stay QUIET up till they are SLICK. They are not the best tire for ANY one use, but they are a generally good tire and QUIET.

Re: How loud is the interior of your Crossfire?
As other have mentioned, the interior is loud if you have older, cupped or combination of both tires. They will roar inside the cabin of a coupe, to the point I needed to put on earplugs until I got new tires.
I did make the dumb mistake of putting on a Flowmaster Super 44 muffler, which was the most drony muffler I've ever heard. I bit the bullet and changed it out for a Flowmaster 60 series and now it's perfect. Just enough sound so I can get my rev-matching downshifts perfect with little drone.
These old cars just don't have the modern insulation of current vehicles. Case in my point is my RAM Rebel with a Hemi V8, I installed a very aggressive Flowmaster Outlaw race muffler and it has no drone at highway speeds. Just modern insulation and noise cancellation that the Crossfire doesn't have.
