Air Selector Switch Issue [SOLVED]
Air Selector Switch Issue [SOLVED]
Alright folks, I have solved the mystery of the air selector switch.
This past weekend I removed the radio and center benzel to get to the switch. What I found was, the switch is not really a switch at all, but more of just a selector dial. On the back of the dial are 2 plastic rods, these rods then fit into 2 plastic linkages. When the dial is turned, the rods turn the linkage and thus defects the air to the different vents in the car.
On my car, either the rods were never inserted into the linkage to begin with or someone did not hook them back up after removing the dash benzel. Doesn't really matter now, because it all is working perfectly. The entire fix took 10 minutes to do. If you do this a word of advice would be to also remove the center dash vents so that you can use both hands to reattach the linkages.
Several of you commented on having to shut off the dash vents in order to get heat directed to the floor. I would reccommend that you take a look at the linkage, my guess is that one of them is not attached. On my car, the air direction changes with every click of the dial selector and you can get quite a bit of heat to the floor with the dial in the correct position.
Thanks all for your comments. I apologize for not having pictures, but this fix is so simple that all should be able to do it.
