Need help part number for crankcase vent hose
Need help part number for crankcase vent hose
Hi Guys,
Crossfire Limited 2004 Coupe (right hand drive, Australia)
I am trying to identify the correct part number for the hose the comes from below the MAF into the Crankcase. I believe it's some kind of bendy vacuum or pressure hose.
Mine has split around the end and it's creating a leak so when I am at idle the car feels rough and like its going to choke. I have temporarily used mesh tape and zip ties to hold it down but want to replace the part.
See attached image of the hose (it looks shorter than usual because I cut it back to remove the split end)
My best guess from the 2004 Crossfire Parts catalog is:
Item: 4
Part: 05097789AA
HOSE, Crankcase Vent, Right

Re: Need help part number for crankcase vent hose
Thank you all,
For now I will order the replacement OEM part 05097790AA
But I have read a little into the oil catch can from needswings and it's something I want to do at a later time.
I wasn't able to find a clear answer though, does it really do much other than keep the intake pipes clean, and prevent oil/dirt from dripping into other parts?
What I am trying to wrap my head around is, if the AMG/Merc engineers really though this was an issue would they have not designed the engine bay differently to cater for this? Does it affect performance, has anyone really heard or seen a case were it created a problem, and installing the oil catch can resolved it?
My engine bay needs a good clean and de-greasing anyhow... lol

Well seems that living there you would have one of these instead of a Chrysler.

Be a hell of a lot easier getting parts.
Re: Need help part number for crankcase vent hose
Found out this was the wrong part - it's for the left side, I need right side on crankshaft. But atleast I can replace this side also in case it fails soon since it is the same material as the other side and will eventually fail also.
For anyone else coming to this forum thread, this should be the correct part for the part in my photo I posted earlier:
Item: 4
Part: 05097789AA
HOSE, Crankcase Vent, Right
