Default Chrysler crossfire black trim on window screen frame?

Does anyone know if you can remove the front windscreen chrome frame and have it sprayed black?.... Ive seen the black frame on a few of the base models and always thought it looked far better...is it possible to do this... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :-)

chrome wasn't stock either. Silver was stock. But, you can paint the silver as some have done...

My silver windshield trim as well as my door handles (same color) started peeling off and it did not look very nice. Went to a body shop and had all repainted in the same color, came out like new and looks amazing. So yes, you can certainly have them painted black or any other color you prefer.
On another note, painting all the parts mentioned cost me less than even replacing only one of the 3 windshield trim parts with a new one!!!

Or just wrap them for a sporty look for $20.

If you post, you might find a non-Limited owner who is willing to trade pieces. I would not -- I like the silver surround and the paint is holding up on everything so far.

If you are unfortunate enough to have to buy the top piece, not to mention the pillar pieces...be prepared to "dig" deep in your wallet.. lost the top piece and the Stealeraship wants 500.00 for a new one...told them to keep it!!...heretofore, I had wrapped the molding with Silver Carbon Fiber Vinyl wrap...very inexpensive (20.00) and a breeze to install...Carl

If you lost the to piece, and didn't get a new one, what did you wrap?

The molding had been wrapped prior to my losing the top piece... Mrmiata, at this time, is attempting to repair the one that blew off,... I will then cover it with the wrap...

Has anyone tried painting the pillar posts and top strip on a base convertible the same color as the car?

I recently painted the '04 and went back and forth on the windshield trim, I needed to repaint the spears silver so I had the silver paint, but I asked myself, if I was building that car, would I put silver around the windshield and the answer was no. I'm really pleased with the results, I also painted the door handles. To my eyes, and everyone is different, it just seemed too wide of a trim piece to be a different color. Note the pictures.

I like it a lot, maybe more than the silver color from the factory. Would love to see more pics if possible.
Thanks for posting the pics.

Hi Andy,

I just took a few more pictures, it's getting dark outside and the car is pretty dusty, but you can get an idea.

Thanks Dave, the painted windshield trim really looks great, I think I will do the same to my car. It definitely looks like it could have been factory. BTW,
I think my 04 is the same color, the dark metallic grey. I may buy a set of windshield trim to paint, in order to leave the original trim in the silver color in case I sell the car some day.
Thank you again for sending the extra pictures.
Andy

I had some questions as I have had my Crossfire for 8 weeks now and love my coupe is black as well as the door handles and the window frame and wondered in seeing photos of others not the same color as the car as I guess mine is the base unit, so I need to learn more about my Crossfire.??

Have you given any thought to the possibility that a previous owner painted the windshield trim and door handles black?

I want to paint mine but I'm afraid if I remove it I will never get it to hold when I put it back on. I've read a lot of post about it flying off. Do you tape it and paint it on the car ?

You would definitely want to pop them off to avoid over-spraying the rest of your car. You could also check the tabs to see how they're holding what with the mileage you have. I had one tab separate from the tape. Pulled all three off and repaired the one plus 2 others that showed degrading of the tape. Scraped off the tape & residue and glued the tabs back on with clear 3M RTV adhesive. Allowed it to setup for 48 hrs. & reinstalled. Going on 3 yrs now after the repair and all are solid as a rock.
