Default Limp Mode... Bad Speed Sensor?

Hey everyone. I have a 2004 Xfire with 163xxx on her.She has ran beautifully with only having to change the crankshaft position sensor about 10k miles ago. Recently she was randomly going into limp mode.... Would shut her off and restart, and then it would drive okay. The intervals of limp mode began to start happening more frequently, sometimes to the point where I couldn't even get a few miles down the road and it would cave in on me. Well, now she is stuck in limp mode and won't come out. Auto stick won't work either. I am getting a check engine light but I haven't pulled the code yet. I've been reading a lot of the threads here and a lot of you have said TCM or the conductor plate/ speed sensor. Does anyone have any direct advice on what this issue truly is, and where I might find the parts to order so I can get my baby fixed and back on the road where she belongs.

I'm by no means an expert but I do have experienced the issue myself with the car, and got it solved thanks to the guys here. The speed sensor is part of the electrical plate, which fortunately is not an expensive part and is readily available. Read the codes so you can be sure about the issue before buying anything, because of course there could be other reasons for the transmission to get into limp mode.

I'm planning on pulling the codes tomorrow after work. Will post them then. I found a conductor plate for $150 online... I believe it comes with the sensor as well

As far as I know the electric plate includes the speed sensor as well as the transmission oil temperature sensor. Good luck.

Start by checking the fluid level in the transmission . . .

Read here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...safe-mode.html

Let us know what you get when you pull the trouble codes.

A solenoid on the valve plate stuck on my 300, which has the same basic transmission and caused this, it finally went 100% and I had to drive 40 kil. in limp mode to get it fixed.
The valve plate and electrical plate are fixed together and make up the assembly.

Well, the OBD scanner wouldn't work today. Going to have to take it to AutoZone or find someone with one tomorrow. I'll update when I get the codes! Thanks everyone for the replies about this. Really appreciate it!!
