Help me find part no. for exterior trimming around windshield
Help me find part no. for exterior trimming around windshield
Hi Guys,
I cannot locate the part no. from the parts catalog for the exterior 3-piece trimming that goes around the windshield.
See attached photos, I need to replace this part because someone spilled some drink/substance over my car and stained this piece.
Any ideas what the part number is and where it can be purchased online?

Re: Help me find part no. for exterior trimming around windshield
I think I found it - page 206 of 259 of the parts catalog, refers to the Group - EZH Exterior Ornamentation > Moldings and Ornamentation > Fig. EZH-210 > Ornamentation
Items 13 and 14 refer to the upper and left/right MOLDING, Windshield Garnish
I am trying to identify the cost of the item to put it into my police report for claims purposes against the offender (I have their number plate and know who did it). Hopefully I recoup the cost of the damage and get it replaced.
Otherwise I will pull this part off and have it professional sanded and resprayed and a new coat of clear finish, that is the problem, the clear coat finish has started to peel off now.

Hopefully this will work: HELP - Door handle & windshield trim removal - CrossfireForum.org
It is a link to another XF page and shows where the massive clips are located. I used several screwdrivers. I started at the join where the upper and left side meet. I started on the upper/middle part and slid a screwdriver between the glass and trim part where the clip is, then pushed the screwdriver roughly in the center and twisted it to pop the outer connection. After you go all the way around, then you have a raised ledge so that you can easily put the screwdriver in from the outside and pop the inner portion of the clips. There are three per side and five in the upper section.
A fellow on another thread said he could switch his out in five minutes (he had two sets). I probably took at the very least 45 minutes to remove mine.

Change of subject: Do any of the parts listed on the 'Chrysler Ornamentation' sheet indicate the rubber seal that goes over the front side and top of the side windows? To clarify, the seal the covers the edges of the front and upper portions of the side windows when they're up.

On the side pieces, you can literally just grab them and pull, you will pull harder than you think, but keep in mind, those clips have been in the same metal for years...

That's probably the best fit unless you want to wrap them in vinyl like some members here have done or get Chrome overlays!

Yep, my handles look like they got the chicken pox, and my center hubcaps are almost completely rotted off. And the backside of my indoor door handle feels like that plastic coating is peeling off at the seam, too. And last week my headliner startling falling out! What is happening to my poor car?!
What is that crappy plastic coating material they used? Did you have it put back on?

Yep, typical age problem I think it depends heavily on where you are located at and whether the car is garage kept or not. I'm in Florida and even though I try to park my car in the shade as much as possible, the sun and salt just gets to it! Since bodyshop painted those parts, the car looks like brand new again and I am very happy about that!
Now if I can only get this stupid door pull fixed, I'll be a happy man! That thing broke off a while back and I refuse to pay $300 for the thing! If you look at solutions for you door handle peeling (happens to a lot of people in here) there is information on how to get it wrapped, perhaps in nice Italian leather!

That concerns me about headliners. I've read about the window falling out of roadsters, but not the headliner on coupes.
My XF stays inside unless it is driven. Since SoCal and Texas share the same sun, it is a bear on multiple parts of a car.
And, yes, trees do offer nice shade, but they also have birds who live there, and I swear, they poop on cars just because they can.

Awhile back there were several cases of falling headliner, This is something a reasonably competent individual can do at home. Do a search, there are several descriptions of the process. I didn't have a falling headliner, mine had a hole in it and it came out great.
Re: Help me find part no. for exterior trimming around windshield
I've read about a lot of brave folks on here doing their own headliner. While I'm fairly confident (thanks to the wonderful members posting here) that I could do it myself, I am mortified of busting a clip and never finding a replacement.
The humidity down here is so brutal, I'm amazed my car is even running at 163,000 miles. But she has suddenly taken a turn for the worse; kinda like when I hit 45- stuff just randomly started breaking!!!
