Default CAI Problems Solved!

Ok guys, so I've read the ongoing threads about all the N/A guys problem's regarding getting those darn CAI tubes and filters in front of the radiator... The air port holes are so small and restricted by an overwhelming amount of plastic!
Well... I introduce you to my solution...
Hmmmmm... now I just have to figure out how to post pics in a thread!

2 ways :
If all you need is an expandable thumbnail, then use the "Manage Attachments" down below the text area of the post. You click the 'choose file', pick the file(s), then do upload.
When upload is done, click 'close this window ', then 'Submit Reply' for the post.

Second way :
Load all the pictures into one of your albums, then you CAN copy and paste to the post.

How about uploading them to Instagram, Photobucket, Facebook or something like that and posting the link?

Ok thanks guys! Maybe bc I'm on my iPhone and using the mobile version of the site its not showing the "Manage Attachments" feature. As far as copying and pasting, I tried that and for some reason it would not let me paste in the thread?
Also, thanks RL that's actually a good idea!

I guess they have to be all done individually? I don't know why this simple feat is being so complicated? Lol

Here's another pic...
I greatly apologize to everyone! This sux but for some reason no matter how many pics I attached while in "manage attachments" and then click "submit", only the first pic attached posts to thread!
Anyway... If u want more pics, I can send them. Basically I took out all of that unnecessary plastic that make up the air ports to the left and right of the radiator and then removed the horn components (which I will run more wire and simply relocate).
I checked to make sure and both of my cone filters fit in front of the radiator on both sides of the hood latch. Today I am going to go and purchase the tubing needed to connect the stock air tubes coming off of the engine cover to my two cone filters and with the addition of some extra configuring, I think I will have a pretty decent and efficient CAI for my N/A '05 XFire (this is assuming one has removed the stock air filters inside the engine cover)...
I'm open to suggestions as to what material to construct the two induction tubes/hoses out of. I only need approx 7-8" on both sides to connect the cone to the stock tubes. Obvi it will have to be a 3" opening to fit into the connector for each cone and then I am going to have to figure out how to go from that into the smaller, oval/oblong shape of that stock tubing which fits through the opening. I was actually thinking of just hammering down a section of regular 3" air pipe to where it fits through the opening and can either connect to the stock tubes coming off the engine cover or doing the same and then connecting and running the same tubing/pipe/hose/whatever u want to call it to the engine cover and eliminating that stock plastic tubing...

looks just like the start of a "needswings cai" installation.... Those plastic parts are supports for the radiator, but I have removed mine in both cars installing the dual CAI intakes from Needswings. It should give you a little more cold air for sure...

Hate to tell you but someone has to, this has been done a thousand times plus, nothing new. Sorry.
Go here and see something similar for the SRT6, maybe you can find your answer to your question.
I think you have more questions than answers, and no I have no need for a loan.

What has been done?
Oh, so you understood what I was explaining I'm going to do?
Sweet!
I've been on this forum for three days, my bad, I haven't read any other posts about this...
Anyways... Just for kicks I'll post my pics of the finished product.

And huh??? Who asked you if you needed a loan???
What's up your *** dude?
What? You're a "Senior Member" of a Crossfire Club so you waste your time trying to belittle newbies who have a passion for working on their cars themselves and fabricating solutions to problems they've come across???
I would never waste my time asking you if you needed a loan. I couldn't care less about what you do and don't need in your life...

Richie, you will find that the OEM engine cover is restrictive, even with the air filters removed, but if you are going with that anyway, make certain you are getting a good seal between both the removable covers and the main cover. This has been an issue in the past, seems the plastic covers can warp.

A Needswings or DIY CAI is the preferred way to go, the part that is hard to find ( but can be found ) is the 90 degree 3" silicone elbows. If you keep all the OEM plastic junk from the throttle body and up, it's hard to connect to,
If you drop the plastic stuff, then you are stuck with how to mount the MAF/IAT sensor.
Rob at Needswings has all this covered, albeit at a price .....

If you wanna go all out, take a look at maxcichon's homemade DCAI :
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...612-51760.html

At any rate, you will soon also want a 74MM throttle body upgrade, and a EuroCharged tune.
