Re: strange problem
Is it normal to be in limp mode and be able to shift manually on CFs?
I am amazed that cars can be running with a obvious defect and the CPU not throw a code. If the CPU is smart enough to put it in limp mode, it should have recognized a defect and the defect should have an obd number.
If it were me and I had no idea why the transmission was not shifting correctly, i would check fluid level and then replace that connector plug on the transmission. Oh and look for corrosion on any connectors.

Re: strange problem
With my recently purchased SRT-6 roadster, I had some issues where the car would go into limp mode and only 2nd gear was available (after driving the car hard around corners). I would pull over, turn the car off and it would be fine after restart. I had the BAS/ESP light come on. After getting the issue resolved (replacing sensors/tranny filter and fluid replaced), everything has been rock solid.
Re: strange problem
will definitely check fluid and connector and hope that's it
if I'm driving and it acts up I can not shift it using auto stick. I to have to pull over and restart before I can use auto stick.anybody think this could be another bad wheel speed senson?pondering buying the other 3 and swapping them and pray.
it drives me crazy when it does it sometimes and runs great other times I wish, it would just fail completely at least then dealer can swap parts/sensors and finally fix issue if and when problem is solved I'll keep everyone posted just in case someone else runs into this problem

Re: strange problem
My money says that one of the components on the valve plate or on the electrical plate has gone on the blink.
If the dealer is paying they will change out the part that fails, if you are paying they will probably change both plates just to make more money.
The connector just leaks, I do not think it fails too often. Probably a speed sensor or a solenoid has failed.
I have a transmission repair manual that states that if its in second gear limp mode its an electrical fault and if in third gear its a hydraulic fault, I read that the other day and it was the first time I had heard of that.

Re: strange problem
ouch !!
I do have extended warranty not from chrysler but finance bank hope it covers it
if not its worth it just to have it working properly again.
is this just age or something cause this to fail .in my case it started acting up when new wheels were installed tried everything before taking it to dealership
thanks for all input greatly appreciate it hope this solves it

Unless the shade tree machanic is well versed with MB transmissions, I would look for a good MB mechanic. Conductor plate will run $250 or so. Plus, you will need other parts. Could run you $750 to $850 for parts and labor.
Re: strange problem
Gents,
I bought an OBD Scanner - ELM 327 device... talks via blu tooth to your Android fone and gives you a constant readout of the entire electrical system of your vehicle....
EBay for about £$ 10. you will need to download an App called TORQUE for about £$3 too, and it really does work.
The device give rpm, fuel economy, a running commentary of all ECU functions and systems and all sensors etc... if it's got wires poking out and some kind of sensor, this thing should find the fault and why...

Re: strange problem
Yes, youre probably right, I stand corrected MrMaita... appreciated... knowledge is welcomed.
I've recently got this gadget and still learning, found it very informative and lots of info learned from it.
The next thing on my list from E-Bay is a plug in tool and adapter and software for the laptop to fiddle with settings and optimisations.... learning slowly and its interesting to see in real-time what your engine is doing...... not going to adjust anything until I have a good idea of whats going on tho
===================
What I was trying to describe in a few short words, that this gizmo may nail down the faulty part for our friend here for very few $$$Dollars, compared to spending a fortune at the dealer every time the car is plugged in, and it will give a running commentary of faults and issues for you....
It aso gives torque / miles per gallon and lots more and even works with the GPS fone function and works out fuel consumption. Searches out ALL sensors ir crank and cam sensers, EGR issues, all temperatures and pressures and gives all their % readings, and whether anything has failed or out of expected tollerance... I was amaized at just how much information is available and on show.... cool stuff indeed.
This maybe helpful to our friend here with his electrical issues to find the culprit part, as this little device will find it most likely.
Understanding that I'm a novice with the information this device spews out, but its great fun learning, and as MrMaita correctly says, I'm playing gently here and learning...
