The end of my fun.
The end of my fun.
It was a dark and stormy night. Or, more accurately, it was a dark and slippery night. The real pain of it is I had just purchased a set of winter tires+rims, but hadn't yet put them on.
Estimated repair cost: $12,881.08

I'm man enough to say I cried.
And a a picture from a couple months before.

Re: The end of my fun.
Another one bites the dust, will you be getting another one? I think we can say that one is toast.
Re: The end of my fun.
I'm mostly okay, other than being a bit sore, both in pride and in the neck.
I would dearly love to get another one, but I just can't afford it right now. I think I may have to get the dreaded "practical" car, looking at a Dodge Caliber or similar.
Also, the selection around Detroit is pretty limited, with none being as nice as the one I had, with as few miles, for the price I paid.

Re: The end of my fun.
So guys, digging up an older topic here, but..
An update on my Crossfire. It was, indeed, totaled..and I made a $1200 profit off the purchase price(!).
Now I've been longing after another one, heart leaping at the sight of every black Crossfire out there..and I might've found one.
It's a 2005 Crossfire, black with black interior, and only 31,000 miles :O
$7250
I'll miss the auto-dimming mirror, the silver windshield surround, the foglights...
...Okay, I won't miss anything but the mirror, that was actually pretty handy. I got tired of hearing those stupid caps rattling inside the foglights.
SO!
Should I take the plunge? Crossfire round two?
Have I learned my lesson to never drive it in the winter?(You better believe I have)
The only issue with this Crossfire, as of yet, is it needs a battery. What other things should I examine extra closely when looking at a Crossfire around 31k miles?

Re: The end of my fun.
I think it is. I haven't called on it or anything yet. Judging from the pictures, it's a base(no fog lights and a black windshield bezel), but it has leather seats, so I'm not sure! I don't claim to be an expert on the differences though, just a quick internet search.
What are all of the differences between the 2004 and 2005 models, anyway? Or is that basically it?

Re: The end of my fun.
They said I couldn't have it, I said I needed a memento!
Re: The end of my fun.
All 2004 models are comparable to a 2005+ Limited models, they just were not branded as a Limited yet. When the BASE model was released in 2005, the Limited label was added for the difference.
PS - I have seen a number of Base Models with added or aftermarket leather seats. Some straight out of a MB.

Re: The end of my fun.
Well, I emailed him, and the guy called me back just now. He said the price was negotiable, and he negotiated himself right on down to $6500.
Freaking awesome, right?
..Except..
The car was in a flood in Virginia.
That's an /awfully/ computerized car to have to deal with guaranteed electrical issues..
I think I may pass on this one..painfully.
