Yeah Right,
That 240 would kill the 350. I bet that thing has no eghaust, straight out the headers, tubular frame, A-arms for days, and a 400+ horsepower engine. Ya know, I think that car could get the job done.

Oh, and in case you're wondering - I go by CustomRT on C3G and 2gstratus.

Alright, just making sure. There are still some people that don't know the difference between my forum screen name and my AIM screen name - they think i'm two different people.

I just wanted to make sure Sam knew who I was since I use a different screen name here than I do on club3g. Apparently he already knew and these past few exchanges did little more than take of database space.

Its funny though. I've been in some crazy races, but I still think just driving to work is more dangerous. At least on the track you have Pro's. Everyday driving you have people who shouldn't even have a license.

So for all those nervus drivers out there, I promise I use extreme caution.
I too have seen friends die.

Every day driving Auto is fine. To be honest the Auto Stick Seems to shift better From 1st to 2nd then the Manual. Also a good point is Because the car is pretty stock. I wouldn't Redline it any way. Until I do the Ignition, and the Iner-Cooler etc.... I wouldn't try to push it to places it couldn't go yet. Once you get your Upgrades done, and get your new timing right, then you pull the restricter and put on a new Tack up 12k RPMS, and then you can let it RIP. You would never think that these stock transmissions are able to handle up to 1500 horsepower. There is a lot you you can do with the car stock. If you know what your doing of course. This is my first Euro, so I'm re-educating myself with the different set up on these engins
I'm sorry, I just had to register here to call this dumbass out. For somebody that "knows so much about racing", you sure don't know wtf you're talking about when it comes to cars.

You're going to intercool a non turbo/supercharged car? Ok, maybe, but you realize that whole point of an intercooler is to cool the hot air created by a turbo/supercharger to increase volumetric efficiency. An intercooler on a non turbo/supercharged car would do absolutely nothing. I can't even imagine how you would create the piping for that. It doesn't make any sense what-so-ever. But you're the racing expert, not me

You go to say you're going to remove the rev-limiter (I think???, I can't quite make out what you're typing, because your grammar/english skills are about those of 3rd grader) and let your engine rev to 12k. So even if you intercooled your stock bottom end, non turboed motor, pulled timing and played with the ignition or whatever you're going to do ... that has nothing to do with how high the motor revs.

The faster the engine is running, the more power is makes. However, you can't just rev the engine infinitely because the intake- and exhaust pipes would become too small. Also all the moving and rotating parts must be up to the job and some parts as camshaft(s), valves and valves prings must be designed for high reving motors to work properly. I'm not even going to begin talking about the bore and stroke of the motor and how that will limit how high your motor can rev. The factory redline is there for a reason, you might be able to squeeze a few extra revs out of a stock motor ... maybe 300-500. If you don't upgrade the motor's bottom end and try to rev you're engine to 12k, you're going to blow your motor; there's no ifs, ands or buts about this. If you don't believe me, go try drive about 80mph in 5th gear then downshift into 2nd, that will cause the motor to rev to about 10-11k; let's see what happens.

Finally, the stock tranny cannot hold 1500HP, even the stock Viper tranny won't hold 1500HP. First of all, the clutch will give out at about 400 rwhp. That's going to be your first weak link in the tranny, and that's just the tip of the iceberg for a 1500HP car ... not to mention the Chrysler transmissions are garbage.

A quote:

Additionally it is a fact that all Chrysler vehicles equipped with these front wheel drive Transmissions have a near 40% horsepower loss at the wheels from the factory so they are less likely to fail and even with this they still commonly fail. Chrysler's replacement line of vehicles for the LH Platform, the "LX Platform" is rear wheel drive with a Mercedes Benz E-Class drivetrain according to several sources and for very good reason. Even with this new "Mercedes Benz E-Class RWD Drivetrain" we are already seeing consumer complaints about Transmission problems with the new LX series, transmissions shifting rough and slamming into gear! The BBC's Top Gear also reported in a Chrysler Crossfire review that the Chrysler Crossfire has "an awful gear box that leaps out of first gear and goes "gaaah, gaaaunk!" every time you set off. Later in the show the other host says to Jeremy Clarkson "you should thank your lucky stars you weren't driving that automatic one". Jeremy replies, "I heard it's really bad" while the other host makes a sour face while tilting his head downward to express just how bad it is. Chrysler still couldn't do it even with the help of Mercedes Benz? Chrysler vehicles have suffered from chronic Transmission problems since the mid '80s, nearly 20 years, when will Chrysler finally get it right?

whats an iner cooler, and whats it doing for your N/A crossfire? ops:

anyway, any time you want to race a Z and have him actually shift to race you; let me know. if anyone on this forum wants to show me a 14.0sec timeslip from a track, Ill eat my words. but I dont think thats gonna happen.

just the things posted in this thread are clueless. 12k redline lol. are you SERIOUS? no one else has said anything quite as dumb as using an "iner cooler" on a N/A car and a 12k redline. but Im worried about the whole group when no one questioned it.

Okay... while you made some very good points about the mechanics of engines and transmissions, your off base on a couple of other details.

1). That BBC reviewer is full of crap. It has been well documented they are biased against Chrysler and wouldn't give the XF a good review if their life depended on it.

2). The XF is all MB SLK 320 under the skin, hence the transmission problem has nothing to do with Chrysler. MB has never made a really good manual, the auto is a different story. A few of the earlier model 6-speeds had a problem with the transmission popping out of 1st gear... that problem has been resolved.

You had a good post going till you stepped on your own foot blaming Chrysler. Read the rest of the reviews out there, they're not all that bad.

Some icing on "our"cake... while not the fastest straight line car out there, it does very well on a road course AND... you don't see XF's at every stop light as you do the TT's, Z's etc. We kinda like it that way. Oh, and when was the last time the TT or Z turned heads and dropped peoples jaws??? The XF gets attention wherever it goes and will do so for a long time to come.

Just my 2 cents.

i agree the Xfire isn't common...but are you joking?? i get stared at, looked at, asked about the TT all day long.....so much that i've just gotten tired of it. This may be a new thing for you...but people still aren't really sure what the TT is....i just got asked last week "is that a new car? i've never seen that before"......

don't think you got the only head turner around, man....we've had the TT for years and it's still causes a fuss.

Nope... not joking at all. Don't know where you're from... here on the left side they're a dime a dozen and grab no attention.

I have to agree with AZ here. I live in Fairfax County Virginia, where sports cars of all kinds are a dime a dozen. I used to see at least 3 SL 500's a week on the way to work at my old job in Georgetown. I even saw a Lamborghini at the grocery store a few weeks ago (I had to wipe the drool off my chin). TT's, 350Z's, Z4's, Z3's, Porsche 911's and Boxters are all over the place and most people are numb to their looks. I get stares all the time in the Crossfire. One day when my wife was driving it, she stopped at the ATM. A guy asked her "what kind of Chrysler is that!....HOT CAR, H O T CAR!"

Oh and by the way, the 350z is a very sweet looking car.
