Here's a pic of the filter and pump, no big deal to change though. Watch out for pressure in the line, maybe not in your case, but relieve the pressure safely and catch any spilled gas.
Look in the repair manual for instructions.

Hi,
So As I said last night I changed the fuel pump.
I cranked the engine this morning. NOT GOOD
Not very easy to start, maybe a bit easier but now you can hear and feel the engine is having hard time to run correctly. I dont think I can even drive it.
When I hit the gas, it dies... slowly but surely.

Please advise,

Thank You

Max

Ok, second test.
When car is almost dying, the engine or .... regulates" and hit the gas itself to avoid a stall and over... dies almost and engine hit the rpm and try to regulate the rpm.

Please advise, it is killing me!

When's the last time you had battery disconnected? If it's been starving for fuel.. the computer has done all it can to try to dump more fuel into the system.. might be over doing it for the new pump? Disconnect for 10 minutes and try again?

Max, I have been following, and occasionally replying on this thread, but I am out of options.
If I were you, I'd search the membership list ( advanced search, enter 'Houston' in the location and sort by last posted to get current members.)
Try to contact them to get some different eyeballs on the problem.
Many there in Houston have extensive experience doing upgrades/mods etc, you can probably find someone that can help. Might cost you a 6 pack or two ......

Yes, I could not understand what you meant.

If the engine is knocking, I would normally say that the engine timing is out and it is advanced too much, or the ignition cables are on wrong.
I doubt the bearings are shot.
But I cannot see how the cables would reach when on wrong.

Thank You,

After installing the fuel pump, I tried to start it. difficult like before. But this time ( after installing the pump) the engine almost dies and then go by itself on the 3K RPM to avoid the engine to die.
I can hear the pump running in the back... constant bzzzzzzzzzzz after 2 minutes

You can hear the fuel pump with the engine running, are you sure?

Pretty sure, rear right wheel a constant bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. I dont think there is many pumps or similar hardware to provide a nice a clear bzzzzzzzzz.

What do you think?

As always, I really appreciate the tremendous help!

Okay next train of thought.. If it was over pressuring the system (bad requlator).. what would the results be?

Maybe two problems going.. bad fuel pump (no pressure when tested) and bad pressure regulator? I ask this because an overpressure would cause the idle to rise wouldn't it? Too much fuel being delivered during the injector cycle?

I understand that.. previously you said your friends gauge showed no pressure. Didn't this issue start shortly after changing out the fuel filter? Which has the built in regulator.. Have your friend check fuel pressure again and see if it read high now.. or none.. if none.. replace your friend.. and or his gauge..

Mrmiata, you are funny and I agree with You!

The car is not drivable now. Friend with gauge is a few miles away. I can always buy one... at that point I am like :-(

I am going to change the fuel filter again. Was changed a few months ago.

I need to make sure where the two hoses from the back to the fuel pressure should go.

The front of the fuel pressure is easy. One go the Pump and one to the tank. Easy

The back of the fuel filter is confusing . One to the CAN" and ONE to the MOT"

Can you help me to recognize the hoses? Just to make sure, when the mechanic changed it 3 months ago. I did not crossed the hoses.

Please Help!

As Always, Thank You

Max
