Crossfire Sales/value
Crossfire Sales/value
From time to time, I think it is time to sell my Crossfire--possibly each time the DOW drops a hundred points like today 11/14/2012.
I notice 2 things this evening:
-that the Kelly Blue Book value of my Crossfire actually is UP.
-there are quite a few Crossfires for sale on eBay... (Chrysler Crossfire | eBay)
What is the best way to determine a "sell price" range? And what's the best place to offer one for sale to those who might appreciate (here perhaps?)
The reality is that for the money, I could not buy a similar car that does/has all that I have in my '05 model. Maybe just needs a car wash and a good long drive to set my 'sales' mentality straight. Would like to hear some SALE success stories (but those who have sold their CFires might not still be checking in here-DOH!-)

Re: Crossfire Sales/value
I think the value is up because more people are buying them , I swear I have seen more crossfires in the past two months than I have ever before owning one , the same goes for Audi TTs
I think people realize how fun two seat sports coupes are again, no need to spend 25k+ on a used vette when you could get a decent xf for half and spend the rest on yourself that you'd probably use on maintenance for other cars , or spend 15k and get an srt the extra 10 could go to mods and you could beat vettes and mustangs all day
Point is ...don't do it

Re: Crossfire Sales/value
Dr. Mike had your answer. Consider this, it is depending on your model year, but this about the time people will turn there car over to get something new. But, sports car guys, usually hang on to theirs a while longer. I have times I wish I had stayed with a vette, more mods, parts available, but I really do like driving my XF's a whole lot better....I never have worried about price or value when purchasing a sporty car. I buy them for fun, and once the fun is over, it is what it is...I have only made money on the vettes I have owned, never a Camaro...and certainly not all the vettes... Keep her, you will glad you did in a few more years as more of them disappear.
Re: Crossfire Sales/value
In 1974 I was in college.....my bug exploded (this was not the first time it had self destructed). I went out to buy a Triump GT6 MKIII......discovered they stopped making them in 1973. Found a used chocolate brown 73 GT6 at a Lotus dealership.....paid $3,400. Drove it for a couple years & took it into a Triump dealership to have a really cool exhaust system installed. While waiting, a salesman asked if I wanted to take a new TR-7 home for the night. I did....on the way home a set of duals came off a truck coming right at me......BAMM!!.....Knocked the TR-7 back.....but no obvious exterior damage.....next day shifting from 3rd to 4th I.....missed a shift. When I took it back to the dealership they asked if I wanted to buy it....I said yes......but I don't want this one. I negotiated on price....they came down about a thousand + gave me $3,700 for the GT6......then they realized I hadn't paid for the fancy exhaust system yet......I said ...Oh, that's your car now. A week later I discovered there was supposed to be a $1,000 rebate on on TR-7s.....went back & got the rebate!!!!
Two years later I traded the TR-7 in on a brand new Vette......they gave me about a $1,000 more as a trade in than I had really paid for the TR-7.......!!!!!
10 years later I sold the Vette for about 75% of what I had paid for it....!!!!
Those were the good old days!!!

Re: Crossfire Sales/value
Just back from a nice day in 'the boat'...Took some pix of Crossfire in midst of sandhill cranes and snow geese at the Bosque de L' Apache (90 miles south of Albuquerque). Will try to post but notice you must upload to a url first...soon. Now, I am happy again relaiming my car that has the ability to cruise at high speeds to a place of beauty and still drive on dirt/gravel roads as well.
