Default crankshaft position sensor again!

okay folks i need your help. Friday i came home from the bank, everything was running great. Went out to drive to the gas station car would not start. starter was turning over but car not starting.
an hour later i went out and it fired right up. engine light was on. Got out my trusty code reader and got the code for crankshaft position sensor.
i then came to the forum and after reading several threads decided that it was definitely the CPS.

Got the part, skinned up my hands pretty good getting it put on ( why do they make it so hard to get to)

started the car right up. Drove to walmart. On the way home i got a call so i pulled over to take the call. I am sitting there and the car dies and i hear a fuse pop. Could not start the car up. I left it overnight since it was just a mile from home in a well lit lot. I just went back and it fired right up and i drove it home. Only problem was the air conditioner is not working,. I am assuming that was the fuse i heard pop. Engine light was on so i pulled out the code reader and again the the CPS code.

any ideas? Could it be that i just got a bad sensor and the air conditioner fuse popping was just a coincidence or is this pointing to possibly a more serious electrical problem?

Please help, just started a new commission only sales job this week and am living off savings for the moment so cash is at a premium.

Only thing you can do is take the crank sensor back for a replacement. At least you know how to replace it now! What brand did you get?

Yea, if it was not a BOSCH, you don't want it.

As to the a/c fuse, not sure on that one. ODD.

Battery cables clean and tight?

You assume it was the AC fuse (blower motor) popping or it is definitely the AC fuse that popped?
The fuse is under the hood and you must have good ears to hear a fuse blow.

Fuses don't pop...they melt. Circuit breakers pop.

HINT:
If you remove the metal guard around the CPS ( 2 bell housing bolts ), it is MUCH easier to access and replace ......
Your choice as to putting the guard back on, some do, some don't.

thanks alaxfire. that will definitely save me some skinned knuckles when i get around to replacing it again this weekend. As for the rest. i checked every parts store in town looking for a bosch cps. none of them had the bosch brand. i eneded up with a duralast from autozone. i am assuming it was the air conditioner fuse popping. i have heard fuses pop before, thats what it sounded like and now the air is not working. i will know more when i get the time to dig into it this weekend.
any help on where to find the bosch cps will be appreciated

Duct tape in the socket after you break it loose to hold the screw.. grab the neighbor kid and give him 5 bucks to put his hand down there and save removal of the guard.. LOL.

Oh.. and I don't have the numbers handy.. but got mine off Ebay for about 40-45 bucks.. search engine here will give you proper part number.. just make sure it states bosch..

And once more.. lol.. Duralast seem to have a habit of "not".. Advanced Auto in mine.. life time warranty.. 65 bucks.. and running 6 months now without a hiccup.. bosch rides shotgun behind the seat though.. lol
