A tale of Speed, reckless driving, and no mention of bubba's
A tale of Speed, reckless driving, and no mention of bubba's
Well sometime back in may I was doing a dashdaq run for gears 4, 5, and 6 in the 55 and happened to get pulled over slowing back down from doing it. Tennessee State Trooper didn't quite understand why I would be going so fast on an empty highway so he hauled my *** off to jail. Seriously he put me in the jail. Anyway 4 hours of my time after being pulled over I had a court date and was released with a $1500 bond. Today I had my day in court with a lawyer of course and the outcome wasn't as bad as it could've been. Apparently where I was pulled over if I had ran another 3 miles I would've been in Rutherford county and they have an automatic 10 days in jail for driving over 100mph. In Wilson county however if you manage to not get Judge Tatum you're not likely to go to jail. Instead I paid $394.00's in fee's, Signed up for an 8 hour driving class that'll cost me another $75's and will have to perform 25 hours of community service. Plus 6 months from now I can pay another $400 and have it expunged from my record, and I will certainly do that. The plus side to all of this is 0 points on my license. I don't really think I could've gotten a better outcome. I've already scheduled my driving class and am working on finding somewhere to do my community service. For those of you who already knew about this thanks for your thoughts and prayers. They were most definitely appreciated.

BTW I will not be leading any runs this fall at the dragon. I gotta keep my nose clean for a while as well

Well Nick glad everything came out ok , your not the only one that got to be good , i got stay ticket free untill Jan. almost there LOL, and i can tell you this it been hard with the Corvette , Been taking out to some country roads but not for very long , just get that need for speed out of my head , LOL !!!!
Re: A tale of Speed, reckless driving, and no mention of bubba's
Glad it all panned out well for you Nick.
You should buy the spot at the 1/2 mile airport event from Matt and run the 55 down there. No tickets, and you can get another speed fix.
IIRC Matt registered, but is thinking about going to Utah (according to the owner of the yellow beetle).

Glad it worked out for you Nick. That safe driving course is like a get out of jail card. That is what I did when John Book and I were nabbed at the Dragon a few years ago. Lawyers can and do work wonders when they are in the know. I always liked that word expunged, like it never ever happened. Stay safe.

Sadly Nick...only an old cop like me would have understood "data logging". Some of those counties down there surprise the crap out of me with there automatic jail time. But what ever. Glad it worked out. I still wonder if you were in an old muscle car performing the same run if the outcome would be the same....
My former boating/lake camping days in the KY/TN hills throughout the years netted me a lot of friends in the local judicial systems. It's like turning back the clock up here, but I get it. You had better be on their good side or the consequences can be bad...

Seems like my thoughts and prayers do others a lot of good, sometimes, they even do ME some good.
But they don't seem to work for my sister... but that's another thread. One I will never start.

Next time you need to log, I think we (me, you, Steve) need to do a stake-out (near the Speedway?) and have people give the all-clear for your 60-130 pull. Honestly, no need to hit 160 on 840 to pull data. A full 3rd/4th-gear pull should let you know if there's trouble brewing. As long as the timing and AFR's are good there, you should be fine. In real-world driving, you're on/off the throttle through the twisties, not burying the pedal for two miles straight. Well, unless you're Steve.
