Default Brake Fluid ?

Everyone seems to think you should change your brake fluid every 2 years or so.....if that's true....why doesn't the maintenance schedule in the owner's manual make any mention of ever changing the brake fluid?

It say's " spark plugs & coolant every 5years/100,000 + Automatic transmission fluid ....once at the 60,000 mile mark ...then never again...ever".

It does mention adding when low.....but nowhere does it recommend replacing the brake fluid.

True 'dat. My Audi A4 and A6 call for changing the brake fluid every two years regardless of mileage. I may do that next year as the XFs will be 8 years old. Over time, the fluid can absorb moisture whcih leads to badness.

I don't recall if the fluid was changed at the dealer when I had the front brakes done two years ago but the car needs rears now so maybe they'll add some or bleed out the old stuff and refill.
