Default Howdy!! Got an '04 a few weeks ago

So, I just got a new job and my commute increased 10 fold, (4 miles to 38 miles) so I needed something that was cheaper on gas than my '01 Ford F150 4x4 (9 MPG on a good day, maybe 13 on the hwy) I could drive my wife's Jeep Liberty back and forth, but #1, YUCK, #2, DW is stuck driving the truck, and #3, It's a Liberty, soooo YUCK!!! Hunting for something that was cheap - er on gas and still fun to drive for 30-40 mins, twice a day led me to a few choices, but none of them suited my needs (ok, my wants, but still...) Spotted this little gem at a local Chrysler Dealer, set up a test drive, and 40 minutes later, I drove it home.

It's got 85K on it, and hasn't been babied really, but it's still got some spunk. I'm really glad this forum exists cuz it's got just about every thing wrong on the "Common Problems" thread... Just removed the Headliner this evening, and it's off to the fabric store and Autozone tomorrow to get that fixed, one of the driving lights already has a loose cap, the seats will work, then stop, then work again (I've found that closing the drivers door kinda hard will get them started again), and a couple of days ago, I started noticing the smell of anti-freeze when I start up. The first week I found water leaking into the passenger compartment during a rain storm, and I've already painted the silver trim around the Windsheild. I'm going to get A LOT of use out of everyone's experience and Expertise...

So far though, I love the car despite my list of problems, it's fun to drive, and scary fast... it gets lots of looks both on the road and in parking lots, and the sound... I love the sound of this Car... I've got lots of questions, so it's off to the Search Engine I go... again... Just wanted to introduce myself ...

Just the other day, I was thinking, this is the best running car I've EVER had!

Welcome, these cars are the BEST!!
How did you paint the silver trim around window? Mine seem to have some sun damage, but only on the left and right trim...not the middle one....at all! Seems weird

I was thinking of using plasti dip, but it wouldn't look right with everything else being silver

All I did was use a plastic spatula to get under the top piece, pried it off with my fingers, put a rag in between the side pieces to not bang them up anymore, pried them up with my fingers.. Of course 3 or 4 of the metal clips came off of the plastic piece then 2 or 3 came off the car, but a little "Shoe Goo" during re installation fixed that right up...

Used 180 grit sand paper to sand them smooth... not real concerned with getting all the color off, just wanted them smooth for a good finish... Once that was done, I used Duplicolor, Chrysler Silver base coat, about 3 maybe 4 coats, then sprayed the Duplicolor clearcoat over it... pretty easy, took an afternoon... So easy, that if they get sun damaged again, I'll just do it again...

really having a problem with the darn electric seats not working, so I am off to find the relay "what-cha-macallit to see if I can get that fixed....

Ohh nice! I was worried I would have to take it to a shop. Where can I get the Chrysler silver paint? Any links? I would have to do all 3 pieces right? So they can all match?
