It Is Official... just extended my warranty
It Is Official... just extended my warranty
I bought my car brand new back in August of 2005. It has been 7 years now! At first I got a lot of attention. Lots of people yelling "nice car" and giving the thumbs up. I had a worker at the gas station come out and ask for a tour of my car. It got a lot of attention in my first few years of ownership. Lately it has died off.
After my 3 year/36K mile warranty expired I purchased an extended Max Care. I got my money back and then some. I just decided to buy another Max Care. This will add another 5 years on my car.
I know some people around here claim our cars are rock solid. They really are if you don't drive them often. I was using mine as a daily driver and had nothing but dumb little problems. Yes, the major components are rock solid and the car was reliable but it was always the little things that broke and bothered me. The cost on some of these parts can be very pricey! One repair alone could pay for the entire warranty. Having the peace of mind is worth it to me... and I guarante something will break within the next 5 years!

Congrats on your Anniversary.
If you're not getting the attention that you use to, then maybe it's time for some visual Mods. Probably the most simple one is wheels.
I can say without a doubt, our car seems to still turn as many heads around here, as it did when we first got it. Everytime my Wife and I go out in it, we get a chuckle watching people's head swivel.

As 32Krazy! told me just recently, "I go to a car show with my SLK32AMG and people walk right by the car to talk to the guys with me (Nick, John, etc.) with their Crossfires".
This is just another blackcrossfire07 thread where he belittles and bemoans the Crossfire. *yawn*

Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
Facts sting.
Congrats on the warranty though, the dealers were clueless seven years ago, when these cars were actually supported by the dealerships. Most Chrysler dealerships have put their Crossfire "special tools" cabinets on ebay and made more money. So, when you take it into the stealership in 2014 and an 18 year-old starts wrenching on it... remember that he was playing with Pokemon toys when the car was new.
Best of luck!
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
The car used to cause quite a stir. I remember taking it through tech inspection at Road America in '04. When the hood was popped all the other inspectors dropped what they were doing to come over for a look. They left guys just standing there beside their Ferraris and vettes to see something new. I thought they were going to applaud when I raised the wing. I think I am now immune to looks. My wife sees them turn to look but I rarely notice.
I was glad when my 7/70 ran out. It wasn't the cost of repairs that bothered me. It was the quality of those repairs. I now use an independent garage and am much happier.

It still sparks a good conversation at car shows, as I'm a "hood up" guy. Thankfully, Sparkie's supercharger plaque will answer most questions for me now. The five-minute "it's really an AMG motor" conversation gets tiresome, even for an enthusiast.
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
You so silly... I own a Crossfire. I'm actually on my second one, and Nick owned two as well. I mod mine, help others mod theirs, give advice on how to fix them, and even show up to Crossfire meets. Just like y-- wait, nevermind.
Facts sting.

As for "special tools"... maybe in hick town where you live the Chrysler dealers sold their tools but not where I live. As a matter of fact, my chrysler dealer still has crossfire posters hanging on the wall.
People may say they prefer independent shops to work on our cars over Chrysler. But there are some things independent shops can't fix. Remember, our cars may be Mercedes but they are still Chryslers.

Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
I had to return to Chrysler to get a new key, but other than that, what else? Please note that this is a real question and should not be confused with any urination contest that may be presently ongoing.
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
No fights here...blackcrossfire07 is the only member that gets explosively defensive over absolutely nothing. Hell, I even congratulated him on letting Chrysler take his money again. At least he didn't pay the Bentley dealership
It does beg the question -- when someone like Nick goes from a Limited Coupe, to the SRT-6, and finally to an SLK-55 AMG... And Steve goes from an SLK-32 to a 996 Turbo, how does that make them a 'poser'? They upgraded to an exquisite car every single time.
Does blackcrossfire07 expect us to believe that, when he buys his Bentley, he will immediately cease posting on this forum? Of course not. Mainly because he will want to post pictures of that big VW, and I am anxiously awaiting that day to congratulate him on the purchase.
I can't get much nicer than that.
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
Supposedly, to repair/replace all of the Crossfire-specific A 193 XXX XX XX parts (that are indefinitely back-ordered and/or out of production). Have fun waiting on those...
The A 170 XXX XX XX parts can be had much cheaper from Mercedes. And those are the ones that usually break.
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
Ahhh, welcome. It's not a party without a Miata

But none the less.. I'll have the Bentley for those Sunday drives and Keep the Crossfire for my daily fun.
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
This is true , I didn't know what a crossfire was till I played forza , good game made me fall for the car , still wondering what these "little" problems may be.

Looks like it may be a few years out (around the time the extended warranty runs out).
I'm not sure if the Volkswagen motor in the Bentley uses the same 0W-40... The filter might be expensive too
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
I have a pretty sexy lady though
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
We had a guy on here once that asked what "stage" his Crossfire was at, based on the Forza classes for weight loss, HP, etc. We LOL'd.
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
Here's when he plans on getting the Bentley...

Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
Now we're talking... If you buy a Bentley before the BEGi turbo is completed and available for purchase, I'll put pink eyelashes on my SRT-6. And post photos.
