It Is Official... just extended my warranty
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
I logged on just to read this thread. I now feel complete as I wasted five minutes that I cannot recover. Thank you OP.
If I had a magic button where I could delete everyone of your threads and the responses of Arado the forum would be a better place, but then what would entertain Mark, John, Nick, Steve and others.
Good bye for now.

EDIT: After discussing this with the wife after work.. REALLY thinking an SRT Vert is going to be on the shopping list.. personally the Bentley does nothing for me. Aero Blue has a lot of appeal.. Don't guess they were available in a red were they, don't recall seeing one on the forum..

How about airbag system? There are certain things only Chrysler can do.
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
Thanks everyone for hijacking my thread. Here is my original thread. I didn't think it was offensive to anyone... I was not looking to turn this into another Bentley debate. I am sorry if there are people here that wasted their time reading the bs from the forums usual suspects. Sorry...
I bought my car brand new back in August of 2005. It has been 7 years now! At first I got a lot of attention. Lots of people yelling "nice car" and giving the thumbs up. I had a worker at the gas station come out and ask for a tour of my car. It got a lot of attention in my first few years of ownership. Lately it has died off.
After my 3 year/36K mile warranty expired I purchased an extended Max Care. I got my money back and then some. I just decided to buy another Max Care. This will add another 5 years on my car.
I know some people around here claim our cars are rock solid. They really are if you don't drive them often. I was using mine as a daily driver and had nothing but dumb little problems. Yes, the major components are rock solid and the car was reliable but it was always the little things that broke and bothered me. The cost on some of these parts can be very pricey! One repair alone could pay for the entire warranty. Having the peace of mind is worth it to me... and I guarante something will break within the next 5 years!

Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
This was a great read. Thank you.
What's the Simpson's quote.. "Extended warranty? How can I lose?"
Back in 05 I took my SRT-4 to the dealership because it was still under warranty. I was assured that the warranty covered all the repairs needed (defective turbo with 8k km on it) and ended up paying $3300 for labour, repair, parts and fixing "other" issues not covered by the warranty. And I didn't have a choice. They told me if I took my car out of their garage without me getting the problems fixed, they'd void the warranty.
There's always a small garage out there that can do a better job for cheaper.

Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
An extended warranty is worth ONLY what the servicing dealer is worth. And after my last call to Hayes Chrysler in Gainesville - that "worth" would be nothin.
(Oddly enough, I will state that Hayes IS a good place to BUY a car...) I take my car to BuckHead Imports for any service that is very in-depth or specialized.
I go to a local shop, "Glovers Garage", for anything I cant do at home. One of the four car-nut brothers that owns the place has a wife with an SLK, (with 180,000+ miles on it) he is VERY familiar with the car.

Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
I had to take mine in to connect to the STAR DAS system to determine which of my wheels speed sensors was defective. Cost me $100, but out of the three import shops that are owned by friends in the area, none had the necessary equipment and said that for the rather large extra expense and little revenue brought in, they would not fork over the $$$. There are certain things they will have to send someone to the dealer to 'work with' (aka get raped)...

Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
I am sure they would have charged me the same as the dealership, so I am not too broken up about it.
Re: It Is Official... just extended my warranty
That is surprising as we are the motorsports capital of the midwest with many race teams and tuning houses around and I called literally 10+ shops and talked to several buddies and they all reported the same, too expensive or don't speak german.
I am sure they would have charged me the same as the dealership, so I am not too broken up about it.

The guy from rural Texas referred to Nashville (and surrounding areas) as "hick town", but we are "Music City USA"... more celebrities and $$$ than you can shake a stick at.
The shop Nick is referring to has worked on my car a few times, and they've always been more than helpful. You can even chat with them in the service area as they're wrenching, to get a better understanding of the repair. And they're not allergic to modifications, either. In fact, the Murfreesboro location was NUTS over Steve's green SLK...
They lack Star-DAS development mode, but they have the rest of it (which is what's used 90% of the time anyways)
