Default How to check alarm ?

Is there a way to test the alarm to make sure it's working? I can not lock or unlock the car with the remotes and for some reason can't get them to reprogram. There is no interior lights as will. I also tried undoing the neg cable for 10 mins and hooking it back up and still on alarm. The remotes have new battery's and the locks work fine from the master switch inside the car just not with the remotes.. Thinking it may be time to put match to car...lol

Yeah I have tried that as well. But I do have a question, will the remote work if one of the door switches might be stopping the interior lights from coming on?

If you have a volt meter, check your battery voltage with the car off.

Isn't the glove box alarmed? Lock your car with the windows down, then open the glove box. If it's working, the alarm should sound.

Maybe.

Or, for that matter, reach in and OPEN THE DOOR!

The alarm system is armed in two ways;
1, The fob arms it when the lock button is pressed.
2, Locking the car with the key in the door will or should arm the system.

If locking the car with the key makes the module in the trunk operate and the light flashes inside the car, then opening the car through the open window will cause the alarm to work.

If the lights inside the car do not work then the slider switch on the light housing may be slid in the wrong position.

Nope... nothing.. Not a .... Remotes don't lock the car so I did it with the key. Waited 10 mins or so and pulled the door handle from the inside.. No lights. No horn not a sound and she started right up.
Is there a relay or a door switch I need to start looking at that would cause all my problems?

When you lock the car with the key does the other door and the hatch lock? If not then the security module in the trunk may not be working, you should hear it operate when the key is turned in the door lock.

If it is not working you may find that there is water in the well that the module sits in. It is surrounded by a foam block, water can get into that well and ruin the module. Fuses #25 and 26 are in the circuit, check them.

It does not lock the truck with the key but it locks with the master switch inside the car... I checked all fuses and are all fine.

I take it that there is no sound from the module in the trunk, except when the button inside the car is pressed?
I'm struggling here, write down exactly what happens, actions and noises seen and heard.

When I use the remote the lights on the outside of the car flash but nothing else happens.. When I get in the car and start it I push the switch inside the car the doors and hatch lock. There is no interior lights and no alarm sounds at all..

Did you check that the sliding switch on the light is in the correct position for the interior lights to come on? Does the light in the trunk work? If it does you may have a broken bulb or two in the overhead light.

I'll ask again, does the module in the trunk make a noise when you press the fob button, I guess not but you have never said so definitely or not.

The lights flash so the transmitter and receiver work, the receiver is not sending a signal to the trunk module. So seemingly the module is shot or the transmitter is partly broken. Check for water around the module in the trunk, you should be able to see if there is water down the back of the foam block under the mat in the trunk on the right side of the car.
