got to be honest I am shocked at how much you guys are paying for Crossfires... I bought my one a few months back 24k, virutually perfect (touch wood!!) condition, FSH and only 2 owner for £6,100. Even converted to $ this only brings it up to $9kish. The weird thing is your new cars are sooooo much better value than ours

Yeah, I'm glad you found one. I was wary of the Chrysler emblem, never found anything positive about them, but found hope rekindled when i learned it was really a "benz". I got mine from Dave Sinclair in St.Louis. He wanted 12, bit i talked him to 10k. Car had higher mileage, 94k, but had only had one previous owner and was in PERFECT condition. Seriously, only paint swirls. She's at 115k now (8 months later) and still runs like a top.

I wouldn't trade my little 04 coupe for anything but a srt6. Good luck!

Yeah... IMO, there *is* nothing good about the Chrysler emblem (except maybe the cool art-deco styling of it).

Every single time I've dealt with a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep product, it wound up being trouble. It seems like they've got perpetual issues with transmissions/drivelines and often have problems with radiators that spring leaks (doesn't help they often used plastic radiators either).

My 2007 Jeep Patriot had ball-joints and tie-rod ends that went bad every 30-35K miles or so (Chrysler actually used plastic inside the ball joints instead of steel!), and of course, it never became a recall despite every Patriot owner I know having issues with them. Smart owners finally started substituting ball-joints and tie-rod ends made by Moog, after their warranties were up. Those actually lasted. But then, they *also* had issues with the CVT transmissions. They all seem to develop transmission bearing failures after 60-70K miles or so of use. Transmission starts making a whining noise that varies in pitch with your speed and eventually conks out completely. Replacement cost is over $5,000! Again though, the dealer will always pretend it's "highly unusual" and they've "never seen that problem before". Uh-huh.....

BUT, like you said, the Crossfire is a real oddball, in the sense there's not a whole lot of Chrysler inside one....

I paid under $10K for my '04 back in '08, had it shipped to me (FL to TX) since most dealerships in my area of TX tend to buy leftover used cars from dealers up north who can't unload them at their dealerships - so depending on where you are, you may need to travel a bit to get the exact car you want - I did, and I love mine. While I purchased mine from a used car dealer, it wasn't an actual dealership, so this guy needed to be sure his cars were good, otherwise he would be out of business. I went to three Chrysler dealerships when I started looking, and none had anyone there who knew about these cars, and two of them never even stocked the car (the TX/MX border where I live is truck country).

I bought mine with 60K already on the odometer, and am close to 122K right now. My car is my daily driver, I drive it in 95+ degree heat and boiling sun, and the paint job on mine (red) still looks new. Outside of some typical issues due to wear and tear, I have had no complaints, and as someone with little to no access to decent mechanics, working on this car is a dream. I'm the 3rd (and final) owner of this car; the original and second owners were members of this forum.

Personally, as a woman who loves to bargain shop, but is very picky about what I want, if I were you, I would start looking outside of dealerships, and either look on this site for available cars, maybe even start a rapport with a few forumites who might be willing to check out available cars in their areas for you, or for you to take some time and perhaps travel a bit for your perfect car.

Shift your price up a little, look in lots of places( ebay, Autotraders, this forum, etc.). you can find a great car that you will love everyday you get to see it. Join up with a forum group in your area and go to GTGs, and have fun.

I have to agree! If you look at what your really buying, in any car it is not only price, but the detail to buy. I bought the "blubird" site un seen from a dealer in Casper WY, but I bought the CarFax and looked at the maintinence schedule to see what was done. It had very low miles on it (4200) and my wife has had it for about a year now. I think she just turned over her 10000 miles. She makes sure she changes the oil, keeps it looking clean inside and out. Yes, she has founf that the "Tire Pressure" indicator seems to just come on most of the time. Had it check twice, but no low perssure or high going on. I looked at alot of Crossfires to see what previos owner have done, and that will tell you alot. My "toy" is washed weekly and Waxed once a month, engine is clean as a whistle and i do all the Pre-Maintenance on it. Tommorrow I will be taking it in for it's 20000 mile check up.

I would tell you most of the regulars here find great Crossfires and can tell who really takes care of them. I have another good croosfire Friend in Nampa , Id that takes care of his better than me! I would not esitate to buy a Crossfire from him:

Things have a way of evening out, look at your house prices.

Do you have more info? Ltd? Roadster? SRT? Navi? 1 owner?

Also, a Taurus could drive to Kentucky on 3 wheels. They're nearly indestructable.

Seems prices are all over the board. Sure alot is regional based. I feel I ggot a average deal at 10.5 k for a 04 with 48k on it one owner mint except for the pits in the wind shield and a few stone chips. I could have done better traveling but this was within an hour from my home at a Nissan dealer. They were asking 14999 for it but had it for almsot three months so I new they wanted to move it.

Bought mine in 2008, best darn car I've ever owned. Paid 14k with 10k on the clock, and I've never had one sine regret, unlike most other cars I've had. Love it today even more than the day I bought her. Now has
37 k on it and not one issue. When it does I know that it's just a car, get it fixed and back to absolutely a blast to ne seen and drive. Constantly get looks from both sides of the road.

Bought mine in 03 paid 35K and now I find out some thinks it might be crap. It just ruined my whole day. It must be ignorance on my part that makes me keep on smiling every time I drive. Life is just not worth living now. I'm going to go sit in the corner and cry for awhile. If only the next newb would think it might possibly be OK then maybe I could make it to the weekend. I just pray that the evil Clarkson doesn't call because that would be the last straw.

Considering selling mine right now. Great shape, just need to consolidate things here a bit. If anyone's interested, I'd rather it go to a member of the forum who appreciates these great cars than somebody who won't treat it well.
