Most Common XF Mods
Most Common XF Mods
Now that I'm a bit more familiar with my SRT-6, I'm looking into doing some aftermarket work and I was wondering what mods you guys recommend for a XF... what are some common ones / easy ones / best value, etc.? I'm currently thinking about changing up the radio for obvious reasons (though maybe a transmitter instead?) and I've seen a lot of people have Sprintbooster... any other common or especially nice mods you guys like?

Sprint boosters are cool, but what you need to study before you put them in, is what functions you lose by putting one in. I'm not that familiar, but I'm just warning you to study it. My thought is, a sprint booster type throttle is an older technology than we have in our cars. if a spring booster is so much better, why would they use the wireless technology we have now? Perhaps it has something to do with traction control, and cutting power before you spin out of control, perhaps it has to do with crashing, and cutting throttle to keep you from causing more damage. Possible reasons are there, so just study that mod before you put it on, because it is possible you are destroying multiple safety perks build into your car, just for a more responsive throttle. I am no expert on it, just make sure you know what you're getting into.
As for other mods, since you have an srt, a lot of people remove the resinator from their amg exhaust giving it a lower and more aggressive growl.
Stereo is a good mod, I'm going to trade out my single din touch screen for a heavy mod changing the single din hole to double din for a double din touch screen.
Custom wheels/lowering, but that may be more common on non srt models
HID lights/LED lights
Mopar diffuser
Window tints
Badge change (search andrew)
painting certain accents black or replacing with chrome.
Anyways good luck!

Re: Most Common XF Mods
I have a SprintBooster, which is un-installed right now (for dealership appearance reasons!), and I must say that I really, REALLY miss it. It's like driving a lumber truck by comparison.
It does make the throttle on the edge of "twitchy", but you get used to it very fast. I don't think it's worth the exorbitant price, but if one has money burning holes...it's one of the things I'd do again.
Re: Most Common XF Mods
So does any of what I said even matter? Or are all of my worries faulty. I have thought about getting a sprint booster, but I told myself I would do heavy research before actually buying one.
Re: Most Common XF Mods
Start with the NW Duals. It's simple to install, adds power, and increases the sound of the supercharger. It was probably my favorite mod on my old SRT.
Sorry Gperterson. I quoted you thinking you were the OP.
Re: Most Common XF Mods
I've never had a Sprintbooster myself but I have a tune and the only part I dislike is the increased throttle sensitivity. (what the sprint booster does) In my case I find it hard to maintain steady throttle in a high speed turn and when I start adding gas on exit the power comes on too abruptly causing power slides. Yeah, it's fun but not the fastest way to exit a corner. A CAI from Needswings, single or double, really wake up the power and I love the whine of the supercharger.

I have to disagree with a few things stated here. A sprint booster, which, really shouldn't be high on your list, is nothing more than changing throttle response time. Right now you may notice a small hesitation when you apply throttle. The sprint booster simply does away with the lag, and makes it instant throttle response. Nice if you like to drag race, maybe not so if you like the twisties.
Now, for your modding, as stated above, it depends on your driving style and what you want your car do for you. In the beginning, being a drag racer of sorts, I thought the sprint booster, dual CAI, Code3 pulley, catch can, etc.....etc was for me. But, after driving the car with these mods, I was never satisfied with it's performance until I did the Wavetrac install. That brought the car together with all the other mods. I think the wavetrac, if you are into any kind of performance driving, is a huge improvement in both traction and handling in the car. If you are on a budget. Start small, because none of the mods I just mentioned are cheap. But, for me, the wavetrac, making the car have a true limited slip rear end has jumped to the top of the list for me. Just about all performance cars come with this being standard, and for a good reason.
