Default Just playin around with our grill

So being totally bored tonite, I started thinking about how our xFire grill would look with twice as many horizontal ribs. So, not knowing how to do what some of you do, and use "photoshop", I cut out and pasted some extra horizontal ribs from a duplicate pic, just to get an idea. I know there is a larger space on top, and some of the ribs are not evenly spaced, but ....... ?
Someone would have to get a damaged grill, and cut and fit the ribs into an existing grill. The reality of it is, it looks pretty much like those after market grills, and the task would be so labor intensive for the average person, that it won't happen. But, it was fun thinking about it......Before and after ..... LMAO

Reminds me of the new grill style Chrysler has on the 200 and a few other vehicles

Frankly...I kind of like it. Does look similar to the 200's.

I don't know-it looks a little too much like a 2004 Town and Country grill.

Maybe it's just me...

I don't mean to sound like that. Set up some more pictures, like you suggested in the Poll you set up? Give us some more angles and looks?

* Copied from the other thread*

"Ok, bud. Now, keep goin'!

I'm getting sick of looking at mine, now.

Thanks alot! I have some perforated aluminum. 1/4" hex holes. I guess I'll play with that when I'm done with projects for some other friends from here. It'll be much easier to form than that damned heavy SST mesh! I wonder if downwardspiral ever got to that particular project?

Are you kidding .... LMAO As I stated, this is only a picture of a picture that i cut out ribs from another picture. I literally was just goofing around with "paper doll" cut-outs. But the final picture thingy, looks like it would be OK. If I can get a trashed grill with the top 2 ribs (I don't know what else to call them) in good shape, I might just try to fit it. The only thought I have now, is would too much air be cut off to the radiator by increasing the number of ribs. Hmmmmm!

Considering the true cross section of the slats (?) they don't block much air. From the side, they're hollow. Should be just fine.

I have no idea what you just said... Do you mean cutting off the top gray plasticy part of the top of the slats?

I was making comment on the route air takes through the grill-it's quite wide-open. Adding (doubling?) the number of slats shouldn't make too much difference. It won't overheat from it.

My first grill mod was cutting away the slats that turn up to allow straight on air flow. You couldn't tell I did it...but it helped get more air into the radiator area. I then painted the inner part black, and left the silver trim. I had that until going with Six's grill... I have an all black grill on the roadster, and I have a matching paint outer trim w/ silver mesh inner grill on the coupe. It still has that little annoying gap at the bottom, but I am done grill modding...lol
