Default Crossfire on TV last night

Anybody see 'Million dollar car collections' on Velocity last night ?
Amongst the Jags, Shelby's, and other exotica, was a SSB Crossfire coupe, which you saw briefly twice........
That guy has definitely got GOOD taste...........

In my opinion... the thing that hurts our cars the most is the Chrysler emblem. And I am nolt saying Chrysler is bad. I am just saying that the quality of our car is that of an exotic. You could put a Jag, astin Marton or any exotic logo on the bumper and people would believe it. I took my car out for the first time in 2 months this morning and LOVE THE WAY IT DRIVES more today then I did 7 years ago when I bought it new. I forgot what it feels like to be in control of the road.

You really need to go check out exotic cars. The crossfire albeit a great car, it's far from being exotic. Unique maybe, but exotic isn't even in the spectrum. BTW my 55 isn't either.

You're absolutely right, the Crossfire cranks every time, even after 15,000 miles. As does the SLK55. You can also drive it hard for more than 15 minutes without the glue in the rear fenders catching fire (LOL 458). Your feet are directly in front of you, not off to an angle (LOL Lambo). You can get into and out of your car when parked between cars at a Publix (LOL SLS). You get more than 9mpg. A nick on the paintjob won't mandate a full repaint.

Exotic cars are like supermodels, they look gorgeous and you *think* you want one, then you realize you can't afford the maintenance and she never wants to mess up her hair. She only eats certain foods, won't socialize with the poverty class and ends up only being a 'decent' lay. And she farts.

Our cars definitely aren't exotics. Thank God.

I am not saying exotic like a Ferrai... let me give you an example. I saw a Bentley once that had a pop up spoiler and the body style looked very close to a crossfire. There have been many times people thought my crossfire was a bentley.... and I could never understand why until I came across one in real life! All I am saying is that if you put a "B" on the front of our cars, the majority of people that knew nothing about cars would think it were a bentley. Instead we have a Chrysler logo on the front.

No... instead, you would have that 4% of the population with their camera phones on the ready that would post a picture of you (driving a car with a Bentley logo on the front) on Jalopnik, and you would live in infamy as a poser on the interwebs. Forever.

There are many cars out there with a low pedigree that have awesome lines and above-average build quality. Ours is one of them, but it doesn't put it in supercar territory. Absolutely nothing wrong with that.

A comparison side by side

You know you're right. If you're completely blind you can actually see how one would confuse a Crossfire with a Bentley

Definition of EXOTIC, " Of foreign origin" The Chrysler Crossfire is all Foreign. Nothing made here except the name. The SRT6 has all the attributes of an exotic car except the price. It is the only one I could afford. gary

Those 2 cars look very similar. A car guy would never confuse them but when you have a unique looking car (such as a crossfire) with a Bentley badge, there will be people out there that would think it was some type of Bentley model that they never heard of.

On the other hand you have your mercedes. Your mercedes is clearly a mercedes. You can see your car a quarter mile away and know it was a mercedes. If you put a Toyota badge on your car the average joe that knows nothing about cars would know your car is a mercedes. It has all the typical Mercedes lines on the body of the car.

So it all goes back to the fact that crossfires are unique with a unique style that could resemble an exotic car such as a Bentley. Everyone else is driving a jellybean car and they all look the same. Heck, even with a chrysler logo on my car I still have people asking "what kind of car is that?".

Thanks for the pictures and thanks for proving my point. I see about 5 similarities bewteen the 2 cars all the way down to the style of the rims.

5 similarities huh?

Both have headlights, 2 doors, tail lights, a back bumper, a front bumper and an engine...

The Bentley is nearly 3 feet longer than the Crossfire and in reality the Crossfire looks are much closer to the looks of a Sebring.

You my friend are reaching quite far to compare these two cars.

So my SLK is exotic and so is the PT Cruiser (made in Mexico)? You're definition of exotic is all wrong.

LOL I just realized this, my old 99 firebird is exotic. 180 made it up in Canada. LOLOLOLOL

Based on that definition, an old Fiat Panda is an exotic. Or a Mini Cooper.

An "exotic car" is one that is in the upper 10% of speed, refinement, technology, cost, and exclusivity. And for the record, there is an "AND" between those requirements, not an "OR". It should be a car that has global appeal and lust factor. This quickly disqualifies the Crossfire from being exotic, regardless of your delusion.

This thread makes my head hurt. And the funny part is, it's not the OP's fault.

I am not going to waste my time explaining the similarity of the lines between a crossfire and a Bentley. If you can't see it then you are blind. The fact is you gave up your crossfire for a common mercedes jelly bean car... so in order to rationalize your decision you have to put down crossfires,

Hardly... Are you at all familiar with how scarce the 55 AMG is?

Really? Putting down the Crossfire? Other than when I'm razzing a friend when have I put down the Crossfire? I've been honest about the car, and honest about it's flaws. BTW I still think I made the smart decision jumping into a "Jelly Bean" car, but I've also made comments about it's flaws too.

I wonder how you see where you're going walking around like this all day...

I was wondering if anyone else caught the Crossfire among all those exotics. I enjoyed the show, but really enjoyed seeing the SSB XF tucked away in the collection.

I was standing out in the driveway with the Chevy the other day (in the garage was the 2 XFs and my mother-in-laws T-Bird), & I hear this tiny voice from the street (which is about 100 feet from the garage ), say, " 2 Bentleys & Firebird!".....then he repeated it again, "2 Bentleys & a Firebird!". I turned around & it was this 7 or 8 year old kid on some scooter looking thing.....I told him they weren't Bentleys they were XFs & that's a T-Bird not a Firebird. His Parents were a couple of hundred feet behind him on foot. When they caught up to him he told them .....look....."2 Bentleys and a Firebird!". I got a kick out of it.

His car could be a 105 Amg and it will still look like a Mercedes... It will still look like just another car on the road no matter how scarce that number is on the back of a car.
