For My Mercedes' illuminated Sill Plates
Note the Chrysler version is NOT LED. Appears to be electroluminescent. Whatever it is, it runs on AC power (not DC like LED's), which is why there's a transformer as part of the kit.
If your guy is doing these in LED, no doubt it can be done for much less than EL, BUT it won't have the same look to it. LED's will have a more harsh light to them (perhaps desirable?) than the "soft glow" of the Chrysler units, unless he's able to put a very good polarizing filter in there.
I REALLY like the idea of offering them in alternative colors though. I'm not generally a "green" fan, but I might pick up a set if they can be done with a matching "soft glow" and a color that's close to the dash lighting.
