Good by crossfire
nothing to do with flatheads choice. If I am reading the post right, it seems that in the US vetts get the same neg attention as BMW over here. I have own two BM's and the responce is normally very neg. IE all Bimmer drivers are A holes, all BM drivers think they are something or own the whole road. Very few will comment on your car even if they like it and last, there are far too many of them. XFire get, thumbs up by most street racers, stairs and smiles, pics taken with camera phones, and long talks at the gas station from strangers.
The vette and the BMW 3 series, are very successful cars but because they are successfull they get a very neg rap

Hell,, I could care less what anybody else thinks about what I drive. Not in it for the show off thing. My wife was actually sick of people constantly asking about the crossfire, and hanging all over it.
If someone thinks my vette is common or just a piece of crap thats all good to me. Most of them probably never even drove a vette let alone own one, thus making them a poor critic of the car. All I have to worry about is what I like.
Now on the other hand if someone wants to shell out the bucks and buy me a new car,, then I will gladly listen to any criticism they Can dish out.,,,,, Any takers????? 8)

1. Envy...some folks (not me) would love to have one but can't and have to beat down what they can't get their hands on.
2. It's earned by arrogant owners. The negative impressions always linger the longest. And let's be honest.....a lot of us have had a "run in" with one of those :-)
You are "stuck" in traffic and a 3 series Bimmer crawls into your tailpipe, flashing his brights and expects you to disappear in thin air, so he can bug the guy infront of you.
I have had lot's of fun back in old Germany bursting the bubbles of both a great many Bimmer drivers and a few Vettes while driving my admittedly highly modified Alfa. The one thing there was that I could count on my "friends" in the M3s to never ever just pull over.....they were always up for a little friendly race on the Autobahn when the road was clear :-)
The Vette in the form of the Z06 has once and for all proven that America can indeed built a true Sports car than can outclass even much higher priced cars from Europe. I had an Ex with 6 of them of different periods ('63 my favorite)and the evolution was nice to try out. The new ones aren't doing anything for me optically however.....but I don't have to buy one. ;-)
Enjoy the Vet Flathead and I whish you always a nice strech of open road to play with her.
Not quite sure where all the venom is coming from, I figured odds are that most people here are adults.
As most things cars are very individualistic and fairly subjective (and I mean if you consider more then 0-60, top end speed, etc...).
Best of luck with your vette. I myself have personally owned a vette and have many friends that still do. I like them for WHAT they are, a muscle-car/mini-me super sports car. I would far rather be caught in a vette then a (modern) firebird/camaro!
I'm also amazed at how many people here consider the XF to be an awesome "performance" car. Don't get me wrong the crossfire has some nice performance but thats not its strong point. It has great grip with nice performance, good looks and low price-point. Definitely lots of bang-for-the-buck.
But I never once (even after driving my sisters for a weekend prior to my purchase) thought to buy the crossfire for its "performance". Its a quick little car thats alot of fun to drive. Only having my car for less then a month I have run into several occasions where I would have liked to have an extra 40-50hp/torque but no biggie.
As to the little P**** comment I've heard that before (vette, porsche and BMW) and just two weeks ago after a birthday brunch for a friends parents one member in the party (not knowing it was my car) pointed to my beautiful XF and motioned to the whole group with her two fingers in close proximity "kinda guy that drives that type of car must have a small P****!" I turned around and looked at my XF and said smiling "Naw...must be really tiny by now!".

Thanks , Finally a voice of reason on this forum. I agree that the xfire is a great little car, I enjoyed the heck out of it. But is not even close to the ultimate performance car that some tout it to be. Don't get me wrong I am not slamming the car. It is a lot of bang for the buck no doubt, considering the new VW phaeton(SP) is around 40 grand. Personally I love performance cars and have owned more than my share. The Xfire is a great entry level sports car and if I had the room one would still be in my small and humble collection.
To all you guys with Xfires I know what a blast your having with the car. the most fun car out there for 30 grand. Enjoy , and keep those loud Honda guys in your rear view mirror. 8)
Give me a "brake"
This is a joke right? Who's this? Wishful Joe Crossfire trying to get a rise out of Crossfire owners becuase he doesn't own one? Criticize Crossfire because it's not a "performance" car? Who said it is?
Compare a Crossfire to something in it's class and no, a C6 'vette at $50K isn't in it's class.
Did I read your post right? You're hoping your new 2005 C-6 vette is not as big a disappointment as the Xfire" Are you kidding? Do you know anything about the cars you buy? Man that's ripe.
Go flame another site because you're not credible.

Hey sticks for your info I had a crossfire and like I said it was a great little car. Your right I dont own one ( anymore). I was around but did not post much on this forum because of guys like yourself, and a few others that have chased a good many Xfire owners away from here.
If you want to think that the Xfire is the tops thats great, have fun. I am not flaming this site and have wished all Xfire owners the best of luck, your self included.
Having owned many german sports cars I think I am a fair critic of the Xfire, though I am not sure I can ever live up to your expertise on the subject.
Have fun with your car, I am sure you will get many trouble free miles out of it.
Thanks to those that had positive replys to this thread. Good luck with the Xfire it is a fun car.
Outta here,,, Bill
