Daily driver?
Daily driver?
I'm considering a 2005 base coupe (manual) and intend to use it as a daily driver. I live in a congested area where it snows in the winter (Detroit suburbs). I drove a Mitsubishi 3000GT here for a couple of years and got used to the traffic and shifting (smooth shifter and light clutch). Snow wasn't a big deal unless it was deep at the end of the driveway. Did anyone drive their Crossfire in the snow last winter? Was the traction control useful?
Does anyone have a 2005 and is the shifter better than the 2004? any other thouts on using one of these daily?

There are a fair number of northern drivers on the forum. You will find several spirited discussion on this subject as you dig through past threads. Some people add some weight in the trunk. Some go to all season tires. Tires and rims is also a discussion that has been thoroughly hashed out in previously.
I drove most of the winter without doing anything. The traction control can help when it is slick or has patchy ice. For deep snow it will get in the way. I drove every work day last winter. I intend to take puplic transportation on really bad days this year.
Stop and go rush hour traffic will give you an oportunity to give your clutch foot a real workout. That is why I chose the auto.
This car should be no worse than your previous ride. I wouldn't look for it to be a much better however.

I agree with most of what Uncle_Al had to say, except that your 3000GT was a front wheel drive vehicle. I had a Dodge Stealth, and it was great in the winter. Just remember that the Crossfire is a rear wheel drive car, and it will handle quite a bit differently in snow.
And do search through the old postings. There is alot there.
I drove my car every day loast winter excpet for two really bad snow days. IMHO you will need snow tires, if yours comes with the Michellins.
